Two summers ago, I bought a model off ebay and it's constructed with glue. I took it to the beach once and SURPRISE! It was so airtight that it floated! Of course, I told everyone else at the beach that it was a science experiment ;)

Don't think the external design changed from S1 to S2 but never liked the S2 bridge.

Not sure it was an attempt to add a bit of reaslism or the producers like the idea but in S1 you had the two planesman/women at the helm with what I assume was a senior NCO who oversaw them and relayed commands - just as aboard a real life sub.

I thought the planesmen/women at the helm position was roughly the same in S2, just that the action focused so much on the capt's chair with the two stations flanking him that we rarely saw it. And yes, you're right, they got rid of the NCO. Perhaps not coincidentally, that's when the ship started to act almost impossibly fast or accurate for a submarine (like banking around a rock structure to remove an object off its hull).

Ironic since it did seem like the S2 bridge was made at an attempt at realism. But I agree, I much preferred the S1 bridge.

Also: The Babe of the Week threads were utter horseshit garbage that brought out the worst in some of the people who posted in them. I'm not sorry they are gone. This thread is much, much better both in terms of appropriate content for a message board like this, and more importantly in terms of me no longer being utterly embarrassed to post here.

I never posted in them, I don't know what's going on or why they're gone (I can definitely hazard a guess), but the show had some pretty attractive men and women there, which is both problematic and pleasing for a budding teenager like myself at the time.

(Chief Shan and Lonnie Henderson...)

From what I can via google images I think you're right though not 100% sure. Thought for season 2 there was a row of stations that ran down the axis of the bridge where lucas and a couple of others were located and did pretty much everything via qwerty keyboard.

Well, I don't know about realism but the layout of the season two bridge definately struck me as more of an attempt at Star Trek. Just look at the captain's chair and the two stations ahead of that, and it should be obvious.

I hated the season 2-3 bridge. WAY too Star Trek, and with everyone given generic inward-facing stations except for the CO and whatever the two front stations were for. The planesman stations were there (all four of them) were constantly there, but the second season also added in an ACTUAL WINDOW behind the forward viewscreen. Nevermind that there would NEVER be anything to actually see directly forward of the ship, nor would sunlight be able to penetrate more than a couple dozen meters down, but still...

I loved the show and the ship and I happily pretend nothing beyond S1 ever happend, so in my mind the bridge has always been fine. :D
