DST/AA TOS Communicator

JBElliott

Commander
Red Shirt
It's already up for preorder at BigBadToyStore.com for $25. The rumor is that it's based on the same molds, etc. as the STTE version and will have a sound chip with recordings from TOS similar to the recordings on the DST/AA TOS Enterprises. It looks like a nice toy from what I can see.

Thanks. My preorder is in. I've been waiting for this for a long time.

Will they do a proper sized TOS tricorder?

I'd just like to be able to pick up one of these in a store instead of having to go through some frelling collector website.

Toys in a toy store, what a concept...

:wtf:

Yeah, I'm with ya there. I'd also like some details, you know, pictures, cost, availability, a link to a site....

Do you really think that a toy version of a prop from a 40-year-old TV show is going to sell well enough at a Toys R Us or Wal-Mart to justify the rack or shelf space? I don't... and I'd be one of the people who'd buy the thing.

I don't know about big toy store chains, but I know I usually can find AA stuff at any of a number of comic book stores in my area.

But the Toys-R-Us down here does on occasion carry their stuff as well.

How well did the Playmates toys sell?

Yes, I think they'd sell quite well.

Playmates toys were sold during Star Trek's marketing heyday. Star Trek isn't exactly uber-popular right now.

TOS stuff always sells.

When the Polar Lights Enterprise model came out, Star Trek wasn't exactly at its peak, and it still sold like gangbusters.

It's kinda like vinyl LPs. Sales were just as strong as they ever were, but some front office pinhead figured they could make more money selling cheaper-to-produce CDs for twice the price, so LPs were unceremoniously assassinated by the music industry, leaving us no choice but to buy CDs.
