DS9's Silence of the Lambs?

In my favorite episode, Duet, did anyone notice a Hannibal Lecter/Clarice Starling vibe between "Gul Darheel" and Kira? You have an imprisoned, murderous-yet-brilliant psychopath and an already traumatized young woman with whom he mind-fucks when she visited his cell, leaving the female protagonist feeling bewildered. With what I think is the finest acting performance in all of DS9 - Yulin Harris (or was it Harris Yulin?) playing this complex, extravagant monster to the hilt!

Harris Yulin, character actor extraordinaire.

There's certainly a similarly, yes.
I truly believe Harris Yulin gave the best, most extravagant acting performance I've ever seen in DS9. I've noticed in all newer Star Trek, Cardassians are always played by the most exciting, thunderous, scenery chewing guest actors I've seen since the TOS - be it Gul Madred, Gul Dukat, Garak, etc.

While I'm on the subject of Cardassians, I say one of DS9's greatest strengths is that throughout the series it had the best recurring villain of all time, Gul Dukat. Like all the best villains, Dukat wasn't simply evil for the sake of being evil; he was actually a complex, mysterious, multi-faceted character. Much like the best Hollywood villains of all time: Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter and Col. Hans Landa (Inglorious Basterds). These are the types of villains that keep you guessing and wondering. I rank Gul Dukat right up with Khan and the Borg Queen for being Trek's most fascinating evil monsters.

It didn't give me the "Silence of the Lambs" feeling to me. Now Sisko when he is possesed by the serial killer host in "Facets" it did even though he wasn't consistent with the other two times we saw the character. If I had to go with something that "Duet" felt like it would be "Judgment at Nuremburg" only on a tv scale.

Harris Yulin is brilliant in this episode.
One of my favorite actors.
I also remember him as "Deek Peasley" from the Western series "The Macahans". He was brilliant there too.

They should have made 'Field of Fire' a play on Silence of the Lambs with Morn as Buffalo Bill. Can you imagine him doing this:

I was almost expecting to hear, "A Bajoran census-taker tried to test me once. I ate his liver with some Klingon fava beans and a nice Federation Chianti."
