Poll DS9 Today?

Given the current climate of the world today, do you think a show like DS9, with the multiple references to terrorism (the fact the one of the main characters was branded a terrorist) in regards to Bajor and the Maquis, as well as the highly religious nature of the Bajoran, would ever be made for TV in this day and age?

It depends on where it will be shown. I think Netfix would be okay with the concept. I think AMC etc and those type of networks would be okay with it. Not NBC,ABC OR CBS.

As is? Nope. It's way too benign, at least for a show that's supposed to be politically provocative. In the modern climate, it would just puerile, naive, and silly.

If they made it today, they would probably just refer to Kira as a freedom fighter

I think it would be even more cynical and violent.

The racial stuff with Sisko would be much more in the face of the viewers, a few characters would probably be homosexual, and the religion wouldn't be treated with anything approaching respect.

DS9 comes off now as a show that explored similar themes as Battlestar Galactica only with 90s TV approachability. We might get a show that explores the terrorist and religious themes but it wouldn't have TNG sensibilities as a starting point because the same audience that wants moral ambiguity doesn't want accessibility.
