DS9 Technical Manual available again?

I'd be really surprised (not unpleasantly) if Pocket decided to reprint this after, what, ten years? But if the status has changed from out of print/unavailable to temporarily out of stock, then maybe it's possible. Though it's hard to bet against Amazon simply putting bad info out there...

On Amazon.com, the DS9 Technical Manual is listed as being "temporarily out of stock". Does this mean its available again, just not at the moment? It would put an end to the insane prices second hand copies go for if that entry is accurated. Or is it just an Amazon error?

If I had to guess (and I am just guessing), I'd say this is just another quirky Amazon thing. As I recall, the book did not sell very well (and that was one of the reasons there has been such a drought of these kinds of books from Pocket since.

I would love to see a re-issue of this (maybe with some corrections to some of the data in the ships section at the back of the book) as well as other material along the same lines (Voyager TM, NX-01 TM, etc.), but I think that not likely to happen anytime soon.

I do remember hearing that here was going to be some sort of tech book for the JJ-Trek enterprise, but haven't heard anything about it since the initial announcement a few months back. Anyone else heard anything?

Amazon still lists Star Trek: The Art of the Film with a release date of November 17.

Oh wait, you mean the new Enterprise tech manual from the publisher who does car-repair manuals? I haven't heard any more about that. I can't even remember who was supposed to publish it.

It would be great if it was. I would think the main reason it didn't sell as well as it should have was its price. Being fourteen at the time, thats pretty much why I didn't get it. I always regretted it though, as reading excerpts it has a fantastic literary depth to it that the TNG tech manual didn't.

For grins I checked Alibris.com, and the prices for the book range from $33 to $99! eBay doesn't have any for sale at the moment either.

Wow. If I were you, then I'd consider checking out local used bookstores -- especially independent stores.

If you are patient, you can find a good copy at a decent price. I've been watching for years and finally picked up one on eBay, in great condition, for only $10.00.
