DS9: Sacraments of Fire blurb

Sounds interesting!

Days after the assassination of Federation President Nan Bacco on Deep Space 9, the unexpected appearance of a stranger on the station raises serious concerns. He seems dazed and confused, providing—in a peculiar patois of the Bajoran language—unsatisfactory answers. He offers his identity as Altek, of which there is no apparent record, and he claims not to know where he is or how he got there. A quick scan confirms the visitor is armed with a projectile weapon—a firearm more antiquated than, but similar to, the one that took President Bacco’s life.

But the Bajoran liaison to the station believes that Altek has been sent from the Prophets, out of a nearby wormhole. The last time such an event occurred, it was to reassure Benjamin Sisko of his place as the Emissary. For what purpose has Altek now been sent out of the Celestial Temple?

This synopsis sounds like it could've happened during the Ds9 tv series. I'm definitely looking forward to getting this book! I like mysteries about wormhole aliens and continuing the story a few days after Bacco assination make for good storytelling.

Is this the actual blurb? I found it on Memory Alpha, but I have no idea where MA got it, since it is not on Simon and Schuster's website, Amazon, StarTrek.com, or David R. George's Facebook.

I wonder how this will fit in with the later events of The Fall, as well as Una's upcoming novel?

Also DRG mentioned on FB he is starting his next Trek novel - wonder if it is a sequel to this?

Seems like a time crunch to me because Revelation and Dust takes place August 22 to September 1, and A Ceremony of Losses takes place August 31 to September 19.

The DTI better be in the novel to examine Altek.

Ask 8of5, because that's who I got it from: http://www.thetrekcollective.com/2014/11/book-bits-new-seekers-and-ds9-blurbs.html

The link in that article no longer shows blurbs for Sacraments of Fire or Seekers 3, so now I'm wondering if Pocket pulled the blurbs for some reason.

Maybe....

It's from Simon and Schuster's digital catalogue. Some times early blurbs show up there before the proper final version gets more publicly distributed :)

I am really excited about this - as much as DRG can be spotty, his DS9 work is always interesting, and often beautiful. Is the Bajoran liason who thinks Altek has a Prophetic purpose meant to be Cenn Desca? I wonder what Odo will do now too?

Also I can't wait to see what happens with Kira and Taran'atar and the presumed Even Odds!

It's also worth keeping in mind that when those descriptions have been discussed on here before, the authors have said that they aren't always accurate to the final story.

I like the reference to the Bajoran weapon; when reading Revelations and Dust I was intrigued as to what they would look like. I hope we find out exactly how long ago Altek (and Keev) lived.

I wonder if Sisko will be in this? I remember one of the novels mentioned the Robinson was soon to start an exploration mission but if Sacraments of Fire is right after Revelations and Dust I guess there would be time for him to be in it.

I really wish he was not on the Robinson personally. i'd love to see him as an Admiral with DS9 as his base over that era wit maybe the Robinson as his flagship
