DS9 Relaunch Collections?

I'm interested in getting into the DS9 relaunch, but would rather not have to hunt down individual titles. Have they been collected at all into volumes? If so, what are the names of these volumes?

(...And is there a specific name for this type of book I'm not recalling? I couldn't think of what to call them.)

The article doesn't answer one question, though, which has been answered around here; after the two omnibuses that it mentions, there aren't currently plans to produce any more of them, so you'll have to find Mission: Gamma 3 and 4 and everything after that on your own. Which is a total pain in the ass, unfortunately.

After the ToF and "These Haunted Seas" ... well, thats about half the series, isn't it?

MG 3, 4, the Worlds of DS9 (3 books, with 2 stories each) umm... Warpath and Fearful Symmetry?

Wait... I keep forgetting, the Left Hand of Destiny (1 & )is DS9PF too... is it? I kinda thought it had familiar characters, but was more to itself?

Indeed, Rising Son is currently not collected in any omnibus editions.

You forgot Unity - MG 3 & 4, Rising Son, Unity, Worlds 1-3, Warpath, Fearful Symmetry.

And TLHoD is, I think, completely skippable; a side, standalone story that doesn't really have much to do with the Relaunch as a whole.

I agree. 'The Left Hand of Destiny' is more of a Klingon story. It has no effect on the rest of the relaunch.

I thought it was pretty disappointing, but I did see it on one person's top 10 favorite lists, so opinions vary.

And I typically don't like Klingons or Klingon stories, but I read this only because it was apart of the DS9R. Was not only pleasantly surprise, but down right shocked that it was so good.

As a side note, it is because of this duology and the great things I've heard about Gorkon and Klingon Empire that one day, eventually, I'll pick up and read those books.

I thought it was great, but you do need to like Klingons in order to really enjoy it. But since you specifically asked about it I'm assuming you are, so I'd say go for it. Doesn't it have an impact on IKS Gorkon/Klingon Empire? I don't know for sure, but I swear I remember somebody referring to it when talking about IKG/KE.

I'm starting to think that at this point, whenever a DS9 actor writes a story about their character it's going to be good.

Yeah; it's not necessary, but I found it helpful to know the TLHoD story before reading the Gorkon/KE books. They aren't essential, but they get referred to a fair amount.

I don't think it's necessary to do so in order to understand the DS9 books at all, though.

"Understand", probably not - but certainly you pick up on little nuances that you wouldn't get if you haven't read them - and on that topic, rereading The Lives of Dax, it surprised me just how much some of those tales played into the DS9-R (the ones that do are clearly indicated in Jeff Ayers' bible Voyages of Imagination!)

Even though they aren't "essential" to most people; i couldn't help but be sucked in by TLHoD, both parts. I know it really had nothing going on that was huge as far as the overall story of the relaunch goes, but it did show how things on the Klingon front changed and eveolved after the war was over. Plus i generally like Worf and Martok so it was a big treat for me.

I suggest getting some of the older books that are out of print (like Mission Gamma, A Stitch in Time, Rising Son, Left hand of Destiny, etc) as ebooks. Otherwise you're gonna have to pay a good amount of money for a bunch of used paperbacks and it just isn't worth it to me. You can get the ebooks for like $4 or $5.
