DS9 Novel Integration with Series

Greetings,
I'm having a difficult time finding information as far as what canon novels to read during my latest binge watching of DS9. I decided this time around to collect the novels that were published during the series and prior to the "Relaunch". As I watch the episodes I'd like to read the novels that were published during that time that integrate during the time on TV. There are some novels that do state when the novel was written and prior to which episode. I was wondering if there's a list of integrated canon novels and TV episodes.

I appreciate any assistance with this.

Thanks,
-Matt

There is no such thing as "canon novels" in Star Trek. Canonical tie-ins are generally only possible when the creators of the original series are directly supervising or plotting/editing them, and the makers of Star Trek screen productions have never taken such a close hands-on interest in the tie-ins (with the exception of Jeri Taylor's two Voyager novels revealing the main characters' backstories, which were considered canonical at the time but were ignored and contradicted by the show once Taylor left as showrunner). As a rule, the makers of the shows have ignored the tie-in books and comics, and more than a few books published during the series were already contradicted by the show before they even came out, or very shortly thereafter.

However, it shouldn't matter. Canon is just as imaginary as non-canon; it's all just stories for our entertainment. So all that should matter is whether a story is enjoyable or not. Many of my favorite Trek novels are incompatible with later canon, but hey, they're incompatible with real life too, since they're fiction.

Generally, the numbered novels take place during the first four seasons.

Vengeance and the Rebels trilogy are in the fifth season. So that means all of the numbered novels except A Stitch in Time are during the first five seasons, i.e. before the Dominion War. We didn't get novels set during the last two seasons until after the series was over, I guess because it was hard to fit novels into the highly serialized narrative.
