DS9 made me like The Ferengi more

I don't like the Ferengi as a race, I do like Quark, Rom and Brunt, though. The excess of Ferengi screentime on DS9 did not altered my likings of them as a species.

I loved the greedy cowardly Ferengi in early DS9. One of my favourite scenes is Quark trying to pick up a coin which saves him from being killed.

However they ruined it with all of the "female rights",environmentalism and all of that liberal crap. There is only one reason why I liked them and that was because of their misogynistic,xenophobic and extreme views on capitalism. You might as-well make Klingon wear fancy clothes and start singing purple Rain.

Yeah, the Ferengi are fun. They were among the few Star Trek characters that acted like real people.

The best Ferengi story was the novel "The 34th Rule" (and probably the best 'Bajoran politics' story, also). Great stuff.

Sexism makes no sense in the context of an ostensibly capitalist, profit-oriented society. Why would you want to exclude half of the population from profit-making, and leave the potential talent for business unexplored? There doesn't seem to be any reason why Ferengi females would be less talented for business and finances than Ferengi males - and in fact, the Ferengi females we did see proved the opposite. The sexism of the Ferengi society was always stupid and just a lame way to make their culture look obviously inferior to the Federation. They really should never have introduced that idea at all.

I would say "same goes for xenophobia", except that I first have to ask, what xenophobia? :confused:

That was the funny part for me. In reality a society like the Ferengi shouldn't be able to exist. It wasn't realistic and is a caricature of humans.

@Xenophobia
That whole shebang with Nog joining the federation. Their treatment of other species and the fact that it's ok for them to break contracts with other species but not with ferengis.
