So, had this as my holiday Trek starter before commencing on the banquet that will be Prey.
This was a good character story. It also managed to keep it clear despite the narrative flitting back and forth across time.
I don't recall story details as well as I used to on Trek books so didn't recall that the Cardassians had fought the Borg too, nor that the latter had poisoned the worlds they destroyed. Both elements work very well so I'm not objecting at all, I just wonder if they are new, I'd like to think they are.
Also really liked the weaving in towards the end of the revelation that Finch had seen the Shedai metagenome, no wonder he was able to create something new.
