Finding it abandoned, they find that it was swept off course 250 years ago from it’s original destination – what eventually became known as Wrigley’s Pleasure Planet. However the DY-100’s computer system won’t let them tow the ship back to DS9, believing them to be the original crew.

Meanwhile, inspired by an article Jake was writing about the Captain Proton series, Sisko devises a way to bring his crew back before the DY-100 is lost forever. Believing he can fool the DY-100’s computer, Sisko wants to trade his crew for characters from a Captain Proton holosuite program, who’s personalities and appearances oddly matched a few of the original DY-100’s crew complement.

As The Twig is Bent

Ben begins wondering if he made a mistake taking command of the station, and joining Star Fleet in general. He daydreams of what it would have been like to live a simpler life. Perhaps working in his father’s restaurant.
He discusses it with Dax who points out that if he had never joined Star fleet, he would have never have met Curzon, or his wife; and never would have had Jake.
Still unsure, he retired to his quarters, where he has a vision. In this vision, people he knows are speaking to him, but it is not them. They seem distant and other-worldly. They tell him “The Sisko is exactly where he is supposed to be.”
“The Sisko must remain in Bajor.”
When he awakes, he realizes he has important work to do for Bajor.

Meanwhile, Julian and Quark attempt to out-hustle a Ferengi who comes to the station to try his hand at poker.
