Game DS9 Episode Pitch Game

OK, so a DS9 ep that could have appeared on TNG. That probably would make it fairly generic Trek, right?

"Sworn Enemies"

Two of the more orthodox Bajoran denominations decide to have it out on the station, before the eyes of the Emissary. Their main point of contention is whether the 37th Prophecy of Onteiga Las, made some 12 millennia ago about the Appearance of the Orbs should only be interpreted literally, or both literally and metaphorically. However, even the Emissary cannot calm them down or get them to talk, and when Kai Winn tries to intervene, she's taken hostage by the 'literal' party to put pressure on the Emissary to decide in their favor.

It takes the combo of Kira and Tekeny Ghemor to convince them that reconciliation between 'sworn enemies' is possible.

But even then, splinter factions secede from both groups that still don't want to reconcile. Ironically enough, they find one another in their assessment that 'the Cardassians never were true enemies in the first place; they only could waste our bodies, not our paghs, the way heresies can'.

Sorry, I copied and pasted my rules from the TNG thread.

What's a Torp? Googled and a beer was the first thing that came up, then a cottage.

Torps and Orbs - Odo and Kira must defend members of a Bajoran family who are said to be the guardians of a legendary "orb of wrath", for generations, protecting it from greedy treasure hunters, cunning clerics, and fearful villagers who dread the orb's powers. Meanwhile, Quark is losing business to an underground speakeasy hidden somewhere on DS9, and hires Jake and Nog to suss out where it's hiding and who's responsible.

^ ah, sorry. In certain kinds of (computer games) 'torps' are used as an abbreviation for 'torpedoes' , which was what I was thinking of.

(I had a nice title in mind but then found out it had recently been taken by Discovery).

What title? It wouldn't be the first or last time a Trek title was duplicated (although if it's a long phrase, it's a little odder than Anomaly being used for DIS and ENT)
 
I thought of the Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum saying (If you want peace, prepare for war), which I think could have been a good title for a DS9 ep. Upon a closer check, the discovery episode is not even that recent (2017).
 
Same length as Inter Arma Silent Leges, and shorter than Treachery, Faith, and the Great River. Fits right in if you ask me. :)

FRAYING SEAMS

Ezri begins to suffer from mild hallucinations. As Bashir struggles to pinpoint the reason, they continue to get worse, eventually almost obscuring the real word completely. By the end of the episode, we find out that after having intentionally called forth Joran (in Field of Fire), Dax's memories have begun to leak uncontrolled into Ezri's conscious mind, filling her head with twisted, nightmarish versions of things that previous hosts experienced. In the B-plot, Nog gently returns to duty. No super drama there, just a slice of life.

"Renascence"- Bajoran archaeologists consult with Dr. Bashir when a crypt is found to contain a living cryopreserved (by some natural phenomena, alien tech, etc) ancient Bajoran(s). Upon being revived, these bygone Bajorans are stunned by the universe they have awoken to, and they clash with Kai Winn on matters of doctrine, the Emissary, etc. Meanwhile, Nog introduces Jake to Ferengi literature when Keiko assigns the class to write a short story.

"IF THE SHOE FITS"

Sisko joins a station-wide culinary competition after he learns that the ringer chef that Quark has brought in has stolen recipes from great Cajun and Creole chefs, including his dad. Sisko not only goes from victory to victory with ease, his culinary vision is considered a revolution in cuisine. Conversely, planning for the war becomes cumbersome and unrewarded, leading him to the conclusion that being a wartime leader is his necessary destiny, not his best. B-Story: the crew learns that Odo likes to mimic, as best he can, the appearances of people on the station ... and Kira likes it too.

Next episode: Broken Eggs (from a quote by Lincoln on how emancipation cannot be reversed)
 
“Broken Eggs” - The Cardassian Union wishes to return to the borders of a couple of decades prior (circa 2330s -2340s), which would give them control of not just Bajor and DS9, but several Federation colonies that used to be Cardassian colonies. It’s met with strong opposition from both Bajor and the Federation as the Cardassians wish to resume their oppressive practices and reject a more liberalized democracy. Meanwhile, Natima Lang visits the station and has to debate this issue with a former suitor of hers who is on the other side of the debate, and who also wishes to get back together with Lang, against her wishes. Lang enlists the help of Quark, who does whatever he can to get her former suitor to move on from her.

“Fair and Square” - Sisko and Kira try to settle a sticky disagreement between passenger transport ship companies. Meanwhile, Miles O'Brien goes up against Quark when his cousin's son, who is visiting, is in a dispute with Molly over the prize in a game both children claim to have won and that the other cheated.

"Blue Blood" - When Bashir decides to join Erit on his trip home to Andoria, they run into trouble that leads to Erit being badly injured. Meanwhile, an aristocratic family arrives at DS9. And while they are initially easy going at first, they increasingly make more and more unreasonable demands on the station personnel .

“Nik Naks”- Odo and Kira investigate the theft of seemingly meaningless trinkets sold in a Promenade shop that may serve as a dead drop location for Federation intel to be passed onto the Dominion. Meanwhile, Worf is caught in the middle when a catty dabo girl gets Jadzia's dander up.

“Lightning Rod” - During one of his many experiments, Ben Franklin is somehow transported to the future and appears on DS9. After verifying that he is not an Excalibanian creation, the station crew adapts to his presence and growing celebrity while they figure out a way to send him back to his time. Meanwhile, Garak becomes the secret source for several new ideas and innovations for his clients.

Next episode - “Olive Branch”
 
“Olive Branch” - A Bajoran rebel leader turned mayor of a new town is set to meet with a Cardassian ex-commander of the fortress turned settlement in a ceremonial peace overture. When a selective mute Bajoran orphan living with his parents on DS9 suffers a panic attack; he recognizes the mayor as the one who betrayed his parents to the enemy, but can't prove it. Keiko O'Brien tries to draw the child out through gardening, which he has an aptitude for. Meanwhile, Odo masquerades as an olive in a martini to catch a pickpocket in Quark's.

Jake goes through a difficult phase when growing up and flees to an idealised version of his mother on the holodeck.

His father has to confront him and tell him that it's good to keep on to the happy memories he has of her, but that no matter how much he loved her, she had her faults just like any human being, and that denying those flaws, twisting the memory into something she never was, and clinging to the past is neither good for Jake nor doing her remembrance a service.

BRAVE MEN DIE BUT ONCE

During a battle in Dominion/Cardassian space, Martok is horrendously wounded by an explosion on the bridge. As Bashir tends to him back on DS9, we find out that due to some medical technobabble that happened, Martok will be dead within days. Bashir is adamant that he can find a way to save him, but the thought of dying in a hospital bed enrages Martok. Later, he convinces Worf to help him get aboard his ship so that he can go out fighting. Worf reluctantly agrees, struggling with the decision due to what happened to Kurn, but ultimately deciding that this is a very different situation. After leaving the station, they share a somber farewell. Worf returns to the station via shuttle only to be met with a furious Sisko and a frantic Bashir. A way to save Martok has been found, but can they locate him in time? Worf helps to track Martok but when they get there they find his Bird of Prey is torn open, dead in space. Too late.

The episode plays as though we are in the final moments and it's a downer ending until they pick up faint life signs. Happy ending after all. Martok isn't particularly overjoyed to have survived, but is glad that his chance at a glorious death still remains.

“Crossroads” - A unique anomaly allows starships to jump from one sector to another within second. Its discovery, however, leads to it being abused and the Defiant has been sent to find a way to prevent it from collapsing in on itself. Meanwhile, Alexander Rozhenko is in the middle of making a big decision: continue to serve the Klingon Empire, or follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Starfleet officer.

Next episode – “Beggars Can’t Be Choosers”
 
“Beggars Can’t Be Choosers” - The Promenade is overrun after a ship transporting vagrants to a "penal colony" docks for significant repairs. Quark is especially annoyed at having to serve customers that can't pay, the guest rooms are full to bursting, and Odo's security staff are stretched thin, accommodating and policing them. Kira befriends a young female pickpocket who is bunking with her. When it's revealed that the prisoners are being transported to a replicator raw material processing plant to be turned into material, rather than live and work, everyone is horrified. Kira's friend is resigned to her fate, but Kira tries to help her escape.

Next episode: "Sleepless Nights"
 
"Sleepless Nights" - A bacterium that prevents people from falling asleep has infected the entire station. As its inhabitants get restless over this development, Quark sees it as an opportunity for round-the-clock profit. Only to find himself, and well as Rom and the dabo girls all overworked. Meanwhile, Odo’s investigation of a serial thief on the Promenade is hampered by the increased density from the sleepless station inhabitants.
