DS9.....Boring after a while?

If you're watching only for plot, anything is going to get boring after a couple (or a few) viewings.
Personally, what keeps me loving DS9 is the great characters, the amazing dialogue, and the careful little touches that show me the writers, producers, actors, and crew loved the show and put that little extra effort in to make it not just entertaining but wonderful and beautiful.
Sure, there are clunkers, but even the "worst" episode has something to make it worth re-watching. A B-plot, a scene, even just a line of dialogue or a bit of interaction. And the best episodes are sublime.

Based on my experience, I have to disagree. As time goes on I meet more and more people who've come around, or discovered DS9. Many of these people are Galactica fans and I feel that they respond well to the more "gritty" DS9. That would seem to indicate to me anyway, that it's aging well, if anything (I can't speak for it's popularity on these boards of course).
That's the problem with a lot of threads and forums these days.
Of course, I love this one.

DS9? I gave up on it when they added Worf way back when, so I've never seen the war or any of that good stuff.
My friends say it was great, blah blah blah... I gave it another try... It bored the hell out of me when I DVRed it, so I don't bother anymore.
I can live without it.
While I never loved the addition of Worf, it never bothered me like the addition of Seven of Nine. She's easily the most shoehorned raitings grab of all Trek time. I've always found her quite insulting, since she's clearly there to simply appeal to my "primitive virgin nerd sexdrive".
I too disagree that DS9 is not aging well in popularity. After having seen the results of many fan Polls on Trek fan sites so in the last 7 years or so, I would say it's a fairly safe bet that after it's run ended, DS9 has become the most popular Trek series amongst hardcore Trek fans who are familiar with all 5 serieses. It seems that for the most part, DS9 is only unpopular amongst those who have either never seen it, or tuned out in Season 1 and never realized how much vastly better it got.
Also when the DVDs came out, some of the DS9 makers had made public comments that the DS9 DVDs sold like hotcakes (despite their absolutely ludicrous initial pricing!). :thumbsup:

DS9 is the only Trek I actually bother to watch re-runs of because it was THAT good!
DS9 got better and better in my opinion. I've watched the show from the first episode to the last episode twice and I could definitely watch it again!
Doesn't Sisko also say in "The Maquis" that it had been the Lissepians?

My roommate and I are watching DS9 the whole way through and I'm coming up to the final disc this week, and I think it holds up very well.
Sure there are some memorable moments where I knew exactly what was going to happen, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment. Having seen it a second time, and with the continuity of DVDs, I actually respect the show more and learned more about all the various arcs and history of the characters. It's great when the show references something that happened earlier on, and lends some realism.
If I were to start over again with the series immediately I might not enjoy it as much, but that would be the case with other shows too. Too much of any thing is a bad thing. There are still some episodes of TNG where if I see it on TV I almost roll my eyes and change the channel.

If you've seen the episodes before, naturally you will know what is going to happen. The same applies to TNG and VOY too. If you've seen "The Best Of Both World's" before, you know Picard survives.
