Welcome to DS9 avatar contest 97!

READ THE RULES:
This contest runs on a bi-weekly schedule (more or less). So a contest usually starts on Tuesday morning and the entry period ends on Wednesday evening. The voting then begins right after and ends on Monday evening. In case we don't have enough people participating, I might extend the entry period by a week or so. Lately the schedule has been far more flexible.


The winners of last week's contest are:

And Tuln also won the Random theme contest (Redemption)

This week's Episode is Rapture from season 5. The Theme is Terok Nor, and the Random Theme is Insects in SF&F (includes arachnids).


AVATAR RULES

The Theme must be DS9 related, while the Random Theme can be from just anything. The avatars have to conform to board rules: Up to 140x140 px and up to 70kb.

(I have always wanted to make fun of the fact that when the Dominion retakes DS9, the Jem'Hadar have to peel open the doors. I know that sounds ridiculous, but listening to Dukat smugly correcting Kira after watching have to roll the hatch open... )

It was a toss-up between this and a totally different kind of Terok Nor shot--but ultimately I thought this captured what Terok Nor was all about at its core.

Random Theme:

Hats off to whoever originally designed the shirt that had this logo on it!!

I tried to place Arachnophobia (I saw that movie when I was young... still like it- I want a spider army) in a genre- I looked it up... apparently, according to where I was- its a comedy.

Still, it must fall into the realm of SciF/Fantasyi- isn't it a Spielberg (that word is in the Firefox spell check dictionary, fyi) thing? We can swing it to scifi/horror maybe? No one will tell!

I have decided to change my username permanently from Ripley to wicca who wonta. People kept thinking I was a guy and thought my name was referring to Tom Ripley when it was in fact referring to the cool Alien heroine Ellen Ripley.

Just so you all know why my username hasn't changed back like the rest of the halloween names.

I'll be back with episode and theme avatars shortly.
