This week's episode is The Search, part I from season 3. The theme is Parents, and the random theme is Men and Women in Black (anyone from sci-fi and fantasy decked out head to toe in black).

NEW AVATAR RULES

The theme must be DS9 related, while the random theme can be from just anything. The avatars have to conform to board rules: Up to 140x140 px, 20 kb for jpg and 70 kb for gif.

Edit: Here ya go:

If you want tips on software you should download a free image editor called XnView, which is great for resizing images. It's the program I use if I only want to resize and crop. And it's easier to use than Gimp.
