Congrats apenpaap and thanks to the people who voted for me! :)

This Contest's episode, chosen by me, is "In Purgatory's Shadow" from season 5. The DS9 related theme, also chosen by me, is "Characters we love to hate" , and the Random Theme, chosen by apenpaap, is "Mirror" Entries may depict an actual mirror, the mirror universe, some other form of reflection or whatever else comes to mind!

i SWEAR that is a mirror in the background :P

For the episode, I am finding it very hard to choose. At least a dozen pictures are appealing to me. Maybe this.

First thought for "mirrors", from 'Broken Link' -

brokenlink_242.jpg

- but then I decided it was too literal, so I'm goin' with this -

alternate_228.jpg

- from 'The Alternate' instead. After all, Odo had to model his appearance after someone. He's a reflection of Mora Pol!

Back later with my other entries.

A crewmember tragically died during production, I believe while driving home

Langella is AWESOME. He seems more threatening the softer he speaks!

arasam and Tuln, Hope you'll stick around for future contests as well! :techman:

arasam, I was thinking of using Winn too. Would you mind if I entered an avatar of her as well? If not I'll find another character for the ds9 theme. :)

i don't mind if you use winn as well. :) i know i'm definitely not the only one in this world who hates her lol.

Wow, that's clever of who created that.
And great choice with Langella. :techman:

Thanks!

Well I love Langella, just one of the best actors ever, and he brought the Bajoran story some depth.

The other image is one of the older covers for the Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. sure it is just "ok" as a novel. But the ambigrams like the one on the cover are brilliant

And it's called an ambigram! I learned something today. ;)

Angels & Demons
is said to be possibly better than The Da Vinci Code as a book. Certainly a page-turner.
(Not that I'm very interested, personally. Although if I was a much faster reader... :D But as it is, I prefer to choose a few and read them at a pace that allows me to remember them after I've finished reading them.)

the image part is not an ambigram, but the words are.... and the novel has many like that. Illuminati written upside down, etc. It's a page turner and an interesting story, and Dan did research. However that doesn't make him a great or even a good writer. I liked the book on one level but hated his writing. I mean at one point early on, when Langon hears a fact about physics that seemed irrelevant to the story at hand, Brown actually writes: "Little did Langon realize that this piece of knowledge would save his life less than 24 hours ater in a country hundreds of miles away."

It's one thing to foreshadow, writers do it all the time, but it is pathetic that writers hlike Brown have to tell the reader that they are doing it. The tactic is simply to get people to turn the pages to keep looking for it. i think its a shameful tactic that cedes to the lowest common denominator.

Episode:
Made 2 Dominion ones (obviously) but liked the ones I made of Garak and Worf best (clearest)... and Worf's expression amuses me, so I went with it!

What's a "token?"
It took forever to post because I didn't have one... :/

For the episode, I don't know which one to pick:

For the Theme I could enter

evill.gif
or
unlikelyallies.jpg

, but I think I'll go with

characterswelovetohate.png

(Here he announces Cardassia's joining the Dominion, a moment where he was, IMO, turned from "Hey, maybe he's not completely evil after all" to "Damn you, evil bastard!")

Random Theme:

huh, the option to edit my post with my icons is gone now... i guess they're staying the same :P
