Wicca, if I bat my eyelashes and smile sweetly and don't get them in tonight/tomorrow morning, can we have the deadline around 8 - 10pm UK time tomorrow? Hopefully I'll get them done in time. Would have done them earlier today by my fanfic ran away with me.

You know, that's weird, Marie...because to me, it didn't matter if Proka was exonerated from the serious charges (and I STILL do not feel the episode did a sufficient job of exonerating him, if that was the intention--I still have suspicions that were unanswered)--I still ended up hating him.

Still, the avatar is a very good one and I would pick that one.

I'll need to rewatch that episode... but I find it odd that a child being raised properly would bite someone the way Rugal did. It's not inappropriate to raise someone with honest facts about history. But he was being raised in to have a hatred for his own race. But anything involving Dukat is always... creepy at best.

Anyway, not my best work but I'm going to stop holding up the contest. Don't think I've used this successfully before but I think the scene is great, considering the guy is on one leg for part of it.

I'll need to rewatch that episode... but I find it odd that a child being raised properly would bite someone the way Rugal did. It's not inappropriate to raise someone with honest facts about history. But he was being raised in to have a hatred for his own race. But anything involving Dukat is always... creepy at best.

Yeah, but Pa'Dar was Dukat's enemy, AND we know he advocated for the withdrawal from Bajor. I just couldn't help thinking Pa'Dar was probably at least somewhat of a decent guy, and for Dukat AND Proka both to be doing such awful things to him...blehhhhh.

And yeah, I can see a two-year-old biting (and subsequently being reprimanded for it). But I don't even remember Proka reprimanding Rugal! It was as though he enjoyed seeing how much he'd screwed up the poor kid!

I think it would've been fair to let Rugal that the Cardassians did bad things--but I would have also explained that the majority of the Cardassian people are victims, too, to the same oppressive government that sanctioned the Occupation. That's how my mom explained Russians to me, when I was little (which was obviously during the Cold War). Now, I am not Russian, nor adopted, but I think a similar explanation could have worked to let Rugal grow up with kindness towards both peoples and a better sense of himself.

^ I always felt that he used that kid to get back at the Cardassians. He should have taken care of him because he loved him, but instead he had selfish reasons. But it's been a while since I watched the episode last so I don't remember everything that happened.
