The cover is here! Cannot wait to read this! DRGIII said there should be more about it on StarTrek.com on Monday.
Hmmm. There haven't been any characters on the DS9 covers for quite a time. Maybe that's even better. Characters on covers might be too "revealing".
Which is why I like the "Sacraments" cover a little bit better. Most important thing is: DS9 will go on
I like it. Looks a little more like a photo real painting. Just has me very excited about this series.
That is a very intriguing cover. I don't know if it means anything, but the tendrils almost look like the stuff making up the inside of the wormwhole.
That's interesting cover art it almost looks like giant hands from the wormhole are trying to grab the Defiant.
That "jut" has always been there. Andrew Probert put it into the design as a docking port made specifically for Galaxy-class ships. Here's Doug Drexler's Facebook gallery of the new station.
I like the cover. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of DS9 and a little less Defiant but that's no big deal to me. I prefer art like this over character covers. Unless their appearance has really changed drastically I just don't see what it adds. We have hundreds of TV episodes to see what many of the characters look like. Showing us designs of things like the new station or Starships is a fun way to illustrate that which we typically are only able to read about. It gives the cover some meaning in my opinion. In terms of speculation as to what the cover means, could that be the Defiant being dragged into the past perhaps? Maybe that will give us the means to getting to the Ascendance story. With seeing the new station, we know at least some of this book takes place in the "present day" of where the novels are at though. Regardless, can't wait to read it!
I don't like it as well as I have liked some of the recent covers, but part of that may just be because my brain is having trouble parsing what I'm seeing. It looks like giant crystalline hands are trying to give the Defiant a hug... or trying to crack it open to get at the gooey, creme-filled centre!
