If you could pick your dream command crew form the 3 modern series (TNG, DS9 and Voyager) to run a ship (or more importantly, to watch on TV), who would you pick?

Second Officer/Ops - Data
Security/Tactical - Tuvok
Chief Engineer - O'Brien
Doctor - The Doctor (EMH)
Conn - Paris
Science Officer - Jadzia Dax

I was pondering this very question my self the other day when I was thinking how much I dislike certain characters and would like them replaced. I haven't seen TNG in ages so I'm only including VOY and DS9 characters.

Captain - Janeway
First Officer - Major Kira (she's so much better than Chakotay)
Ops/Science - Seven of Nine (It'd be nice to keep Seven on the bridge)
Tactical - Tuvok
Security - Odo
Doctor - EMH (though I do really like Bashir too)
Chief Engineer - Torres (O'Brien is fab but he would miss Bashir too much)
Helm/Science - Jadzia Dax (I think Dax is a better pilot than Paris and boasts a bit less)


I'd also like to have Quark running the bar, even if its a starship I say a bar is a good idea. I'd also have Tal Celes as a recurring character because I really liked her in the 2 VOY episodes she was in.

I'm going to take the "modern crew" idea one step further and base my picks solely on people who were still alive as of their last canonical appearance (i.e., Data is not admissible since he died in Nemesis), and I'm going with a lot of "young" / "new" blood too.

Chief Medical Officer: Alyssa Ogawa (now a doctor)
Flight Controller: Jean Hajar (one of Wesley's Nova Squadron comrades from "The First Duty")
Science Officer: Mendon (Benzite exchange officer from "A Matter of Honor," who became friends with Wesley)
Operations Officer: Sam Lavelle (one of the "Lower Decks" gang, promoted to night-duty ops officer at end of that episode)

*Not much competition here but Ezri was a flake, Phlox and McCoy more physicians, and Guinan not quite as professional. Plus Troi was good when she actually counseled.

This was kind of fun. It'd be a very qualified crew...and I'm picturing them all together...I'd wanna see an episode of that, sure.

Does it have to be a Starfleet crew? 'Cos I'd really like to see the crew of the IRW Honor Blade (Charvanek's ship in Vulcan's Heart) .

FYI, Charvanek is the Romulan Commander from "The Enterprise Incident"

It was damn difficult, too, but that was why I set those for myself. Shelby, Nog, Ogawa, and Dax were all easy. We didn't see Ogawa in Insurrection or Nemesis; with First Contact set in 2373, I figure she could be a doctor by 2380, and we already see in an alternate reality that it was a possible future for her. For Dax, I liked the idea from the DS9 Relaunch of her moving into command, so I decided to steal that for my crew. Went with Nog simply because he amuses me, and Shelby because I'd like to see what kind of officer she would've become in the intervening years since "Best of Both Worlds" (even though I already love her in PAD's New Frontier series). The rest of the command crew was the hard part; I spent about an hour combing through old recollections via Memory Alpha to come up with that list. I also considered Melora Pazlar for Science Officer, but ultimately decided on Mendon because I was already trending far too much to humans and near-humans. I do wish I had incorporated more DS9 and VOY characters in hindsight, but I'm just not as familiar with those series at this time as I am with TNG.
