I currently have autocad 2d/3d. Problem is I would need a class and or tutor to work it properly. I was wondering, is there anything that I can draw in that is both free and atleast somewhat simple to operate? Wether its 2d or 3d doesn't really matter to me.

If you have no CAD training whatsoever, exactly why do you have AutoCAD? That was certainly $2500 well spent. :vulcan:

There are tons of free drawing/modeling programs out there: GIMP, Paint.NET, Inkscape, SketchUp, Blender, Anim8or, etc. Google is your friend.

If you're looking for simplicity, Paint.Net would probably be the way to go. You can find a ton of free plug-ins for it to do all kinds of artistic stuff, here.

Here's a couple of lists of lots of open source graphics software:

I have Paint.Net, Gimp, Inkscape, Irfranview, Photoscape, SketchUp, and LibreOffice (which has a Drawing program amongst others), but you certainly don't need all of those. For most basic stuff Paint.Net will suffice.

I actaully took a class for just basic 2010 autocad-no 3d. Different applications. It was a high school intro class. My grandfather for my grad gift misunderstood what I said an got me the 2d/3d autocad, instead of the basic 2010 autocad. I can eventually learn, but it will be by drawing small things, but it will take me like 3 years to learn that way.

A modeling system would be the better choice. I know about paint, but what I am looking for is something like that Baisc autocad, just not that brand name.

Ty both for the advice. I will look at the sketchup. Its google I think.

Sorry know this thread is kinda dead, but just want to say that google sketchup is amazing and I can easlily use it. I drew the Daedulus, much better than the one I tried to draw in autocad.
Its in my albums.
