A couple hotties in there but it seems kinda derivative. I don't have nostalgia compelling me to see it

The franchise is basically the Superman story (Super powerful alien raised by Earth people) with a touch of Chinese legends and Kung-fu. It's also one of the few comics out there where the characters actually age. The whole saga spans some 50 years or something like that.

Before the "Suppa-Man" parallel, Dragonball was initially a free adaptation of a Chinese ancient legend: Sun Wukong: Journey to the West.
This movie seems to reek heavily from behind, though...

I have seen Dragonball and Dragonball Z but can't say I have any emotional attachment.

I will be "getting" this movie when it's available and watch it for the laughs. It looks so cheap and bad

A pity really, looks like another wasted opportunity.

I have an emotional attachment with this one. I think it won't meet it's potential though.

I think they should have jumped in at DBZ and do DB as a prequel sometime later.
I think if they had used Superman the movie as a Blue Print for this it would have been fantastic.

Anyway I'll find out in March when I get to see it before the rest of yay

Goku, while technically an alien (though only much later this is revealed and wasn't originally planned afaik), was probably thought off as a "asian" person. He's supposed to be Sun Wukong, who was Chinese...and well he gave me this "asian" vibe when I watched the shows.

In fact, the only white person in in DB is Bulma. And Lunch too, but I'm talking about major characters. Krillin, Yamcha, Tenshin, Chaos, ChiChi are all Asian afaik.

Mh... meh. The original subject was no Shakespeare, but it was fun (except when the escalation of powers went way out of hand). The casting seems a bit off (I really I don't see Chow Yun-Fat as Roshi, for example, but Bulma is ok). Could be fun, but I don't have high expectations.

Why call it Dragonball, though. Apart from the names of the characters and the martial arts, it looks nothing like it.

I see they decided to make Picollo a bit greener, or was that just the lighting?
