Ok this came from the Sun originally but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility...

Former James Bond star Timothy Dalton is to play a baddie in one of David Tennant’s final episodes of Doctor Who. Details are being kept under wraps but Dalton has already flown in from his home in Los Angeles for filming - reports The Sun.

An insider said: “Timothy Dalton is a big coup for Doctor Who because he’s pretty iconic. He’s in the UK right now and is shooting scenes over the next few weeks. It’s a good gig for him as it will be one of the most memorable episodes yet.”

The dashing actor, 63, played 007 in Eighties films The Living Daylights and Licence To Kill. His role will be in one of three specials marking the final appearance of Tennant, 38, as the Time Lord.

The last of the three will see the star regenerate into the new Doctor — played by Matt Smith, 26.

The BBC1 has not yet decided on exactly when the three specials will be shown. But it is expected they will all screen around Christmas, with one possibly being shown on New Year’s Eve.

The final episode will feature all the Doctor’s sidekicks — Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate. John Simm will also feature as the Doctor’s arch enemy The Master.

Sorry, just realised I should have popped a spoiler tag in the subject header. Could a mod alter this pleasE?

Ha!

Yet another Sun "exclusive" lifted straight from an Internet message board. British journalism at its finest!

The original story was someone claiming they were told by someone they knew who had been for a costume fitting for an acting job that Dalton was also there getting fitted out as a Time Lord.

Dalton as Borrussa? :p

Always been a huge fan of Dalton, and he has great screen presense so I am hoping that, for once, the Sun is right!

As with all Sun reports, file this under, "I'll believe it when I see it." That said, I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility. I'd certainly love to see it, as it would by "my Doctor" paired up with "my James Bond."

When I read this thread title, I thought the rumor was going to be that Eccleston was being considered for the next Bond villain, which I'd also love to see.

the only American Bond was 'Card Sense' Jimmy Bond in a 1950s TV adap of Casino Royale!

the filmic ones were Scots, Aussie, English, Welsh, Irish and English.

not counting the Casino Royale spoof, natch...
