Dr Who finale theorizing - spoilers ho!

Hmm... a Time Agent's vortex manipulator shows up the finale... and wasn't the last place we saw Captain Jack in a 'Star Wars' style cantina?
I called it! I knew it was Captain Jack's...

Unless Jack shows up without an arm, it's not his. This one was still attached to the owners' arm/wrist.

It isn't Jack's! a) His VM doesn't work anymore (River went from the 52nd century to the begining of time AND THEN to 102 AD) and b) Jack's VM has become a signature trademark of the character. He's not going to be seem without it.

But...uh...John Hart anyone? :rommie: Or simply the idea that Time Agents are James Bond style super-studs.

I'd really like to hear more about the Time Agency, what their function was, etc.

some of the things that I have been thinking about;

in 11th hour we are told prisoner zero has escaped, perhaps maybe that was not the monster we saw in the first episode, when we found out in the angels two parter that river went to prison i began thinking that perhaps she was prisoner zero. however seeing the doctor locked away in the box begun to make me think that he could be prisoner zero and somehow the doctor escapes and begins trying to heal the cracks manually or something.

something just doesnt seem right to me that the daleks and sontarans and cybermen all managed to agree and build this box together ? as the last time we see the daleks and cybermen try and make a deal together they ended up fighting each other.
as well as this we see the surulians to which i am wondering how did they manage to get to there surface seeing as they were in hibernation then ? this alliance of big bad monsters all ganging up against the doctor just doesn't make sense.

You got me thinking... if the doctor does escape the Pandorica in young amy's time, could this mean that the shadowy figure we catch a glimpse of running through Amy's house at the end of 11th Hour is actually The Doctor?!!

I haven't seen this discussed here yet, so beware - some major spoiler speculating going on here...

While checking out the tardis wiki page for "The Big Bang", I found something potentially interesting. I followed one of the links to an imdb page that has a full cast listing for this episode: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1607759/fullcredits#cast . There are some names there that don't list what character they're playing. One of them in particular is interesting - Philip Madoc. He was in several old Doctor Who episodes; in particular he played The War Lord in "The War Games" way back in 1969, and also Solon in "The Brain of Morbius", plus a couple of more minor characters in some other episodes. I'm wondering if this could be the voice we heard saying "Silence will fall" in the last episode, and if The War Lord is the one behind the cracking universe?

http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/The_War_Games has this interesting blurb under episode 10: "The Time Lords exact the ultimate punishment: the War Lord and his guards are dematerialized from all history as if they never existed, while their home planet is trapped behind a force-field and cut out from the rest of the galaxy".

Wow, does that sound familiar or what? Maybe he's getting revenge on the last of the Time Lords?

^^VERY interesting. And Mr. Madoc's resume reads like a whos-who (forgive the pun) of sci-fi TV and film. HMMMM...

I observed this in another thread and I would treat anything from IMDB with a grain of salt. Their track record for future casts (both television and movies) is iffy at best. I remember a few years ago, they posted that Chris Noth as Mike Logan would appear on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (and for those who are fans of the Law & Order shows know why this would big), but of course it turned out to be wrong.

That being said, I would LOVE to see Philip Madoc show up again on Doctor Who because he's a wonderful actor, although I would like to see him appear as a new character and not as any of his previous roles.

Didn't know that about IMDB, and missed the discussion in another thread. So all that reading and following links and research ... :brickwall: And here I thought I was on to something.

Do you think that sounded like him saying "Silence will fall"? I can't remember what his voice sounds like.

Sorry to rain on your parade.

I will have to relisten to that scene and compare it to the Big Finish audio play Master from 2003 (because I'm sure his voice has changed over the years). However, I thought the voice sounded a lot like Toby Jones, i.e. the Dream Lord.

The universe ended... except Earth. Right... I hope there's a reason for this, especially considering the Tardis exploded ON Earth...

These spoilers have been posted to the http://blogtorwho.blogspot.com/search/label/the big bang site. Might as well discuss since we're all climbing the walls: :)

• Matt stated that his call sheet throughout shooting the previous 12 episodes included additional scenes for the finale. "When we were doing Flesh & Stone, I'd get to the end of the day and realise that I'd got to do this extra sequence that I had no idea about. All I know is I've got to be quite concerned about Amy."

• When asked "Is Amy OK?" Matt says: "She's dead but Rory is still around. That's all I can tell you."

• When asked about River Song, Matt comments: "There is a a scene near the end of the episode where River Song and The Doctor have a little chat about the exact nature of their relationship"

• Filming on Christmas Special starts on July 12. It's the "most Christmassy special there'll ever be" with an equally special cast list.
First one pretty much confirms that the Doctor with the jacket is from the future!

Plastic Rory? That has some interesting possibilities!

Looking forward to that discussion with River! I hope we finally find out who she really is and not just some vague teasers about their next meeting.

"Most Christmassy"? Santa? :)

This doesn't surprise me.

Interesting. We know Karen is returning next season so something happens with her, but we haven't heard anything about Arthur Darvil. I really hope he does return because I've liked him all season, even if he's a mellow, passive version of Mickey. However, I would be very interested in seeing him as a companion next as a human consciousness (or whatever has happened which will be revealed in "The Big Bang") in an Auton body. But then, I also wanted The Master become The Doctor's companion at the end of "The Last of the Time Lords" and that didn't happen.

Excellent. I cannot wait for this moment.

Cool. With the exception of the first half of "The Next Doctor," I wasn't all that impressed by RTD's Christmas specials. Hopefully Moffat's take is more appealing to me.

River is his mother.
She says something like "I should have never let him out" towards the end of Pandorica Opens.

Going on the leak photos, we see the Pandorica, we see [young] Amy, and we see A 11th Doctor.

Remember in Flesh and Stone A 11th doctor appears to Amy and tells her to remember something that he told her when she was a kid. There's a mention of ghosts and pyschic traces in "The Pandorica Opens".

My theory: The Doctor uses the Pandorica + Stonehenge to send out a psychic SOS to Amy, a warning, meant to get her to stop him from being trapped in the Pandorica in the first place.

I liked Rory too. Auton Rory seems very much like the real Rory, which makes sense since they obtained him from Amy's memories. And judging from the clip they released yesterday, Rory's personality seems to have won out over his programming. But would Amy settle for what is essentially a plastic clone of her fiance? She couldn't marry and have children with him now, which is what she wanted eventually.

I don't think she's is mother. She calls him "my love" (assuming she was talking to him; I think she was). And in "Forest of the Dead" the way she responds to his question about why she has handcuffs, well, she definitely wasn't talking to him as if he was her child.

There's also a picture of young Amy standing in front of an opening Pandorica, which makes me think he really is trapped in there for almost 2000 years. I hope he's in some kind of suspension, otherwise he'd go insane.

How would Amy be able to stop him though? He wouldn't listen to her; he wouldn't even listen to River when she begged him to run.

Time can be rewritten, that's a running theme this season. And we know he gave her some sort of information when she was younger that he needs her to remember. So he might have given her something personal enough (example his name) that if she knows it he knows she's on the up and up.
