Here's hoping he leaves a gap in the story for the fanfic writers to fill in...

Check the sound mix on your TV or computer. I've never had a problem and I've actually got partial hearing loss.

As for the "Bill & Ted" comparison, remember Bill and Ted copied Doctor Who. And there's plenty of hard time-travel SF out there long predating B&T that used similar formulas.
