Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along blog

As has been said the musical style is obviouly similar to Once More, With Feeling, which kind of makes me sad Angel & Firefly couldn't have continued.
How awesome would musical episodes of those have been? :)
An Angel musical would of been awesome, but I don't think a Firefly musical would of worked that well, the show is too grounded for something like that.

Doing a Firefly episode as a musical wouldn't have worked. But there's no reason the crew couldn't have stopped off on the Planet Of The Karaoke Bars and decided to trade their voices for "free" money.

Or the musical might have been a part of and elaborate con job or or maybe just maybe. They just needed the money.

What about the Jayne Song? That was musical enough...an Angel musical would have been interesting but then we got the puppet episode instead!

Agreed on all counts. And yeah, the Karaoke ep of Firefly would have been a barnstormer.

Errm does anyone else not see the 'play' links any more? and it now says 'exclusively on iTunes' on the iTunes button.
And the iTunes version isn't available in Britain...

It was only available for free until midnight Sunday. Apparently they're working on international release on iTunes, and a DVD should be coming out sooner or later.

The plan was that the free links would come down last night at midnight (EST). As for why its not on the U.K. iTunes, you may just have to be patient. I'd hope that they'll have them up for everyone or at the very least you'll have to wait for the DVD.

Great episode. This definitely sold me on NPH, whom I've never really taken much of an interest in. Now, I'd love to see him in a whedon show, he's perfect.

The ending was good but not as strong as the first two parts though I certainly didn't see the ending coming. I also didn't understand why Captain Hammer acted the way he did after the gun blew up......also, I agree with others, Captain Hammer's hero song went on a verse too long and Penny should have had more to do in the last act.

Beyond that, loved it.

Favorite Songs:

1. On the Rise
2. Stop
3. Brand New Day

I'd rank this just a notch below Once more with Feeling and Hush but on par with most of the good Buffy episodes.

^ Really, I thought it trumped Once More With Feeling, musically at least. It seemed Whedon's musical writing has matured significantly. My only musical criticism was sometimes the counterpoint was overused to the point that you couldn't hear what both were saying.

THE funniest moment was, for me, after Hammer was unfrozen, beats Horrible to the ground, and THEN sings the last note of the song he'd started about five minutes earlier.

Hysterical.

While flipping Dr. Horrible off for the end of it. That was the icing on the hilarity cake.

I love, loved Dr. Horrible. Who here besides me thinks Neil Patrick Harris would have made a very interesting Spike on Buffy?

After watching this episode I'm convinved Neal was born to star in a Whedon show. I sincerley hope he gets the opportunity. As for him being a good Spike, yeah, I could see that though I think Marsters did an outstanding job as it was.

I just find it insane to look at Felicia and Nathan and see how huge they are... of course Nathan looks like he's all muscle and barrel chested like a circus strongman... And Felicia who has a worse English accent than even Madonna ain't no tiny child any more screeching about "Biscuits!" . Buffy season seven was SOOOOOO long ago.

I saw the Dr. Horrible--The Early Years bit...it was cute, the kid did a great job at getting all the Whedonisms correct. I loved it when he looks through the telescope at Captain Hammer's fort and sees the Tal Majal!! The song wasn't that great though.
