Dr. Horrible II?

Forgive me if someone else has already brought this up...but I was on Wikipedia as I am often as well as Dr. Horrible's fan page on facebook and saw that there are some kind of plans for a sequel either in the form of another webisodes or a feature length film (which would be kind of cool but daunting task IMO). Here is the sci fi wire story on it...

i'm very extremely cautiously optimistic. not such a fan of the feature film idea though. i'd stick with the webisodes.

I'd kill for a feature... Certainly something that hasn't been done, with the closest comedy musical feature of recent days probably being South Park.

But hey, if fans can eat THAT up, and the general universe can eat up the Moulin Rouges and Chicagos of the world, then why not?

I think Joss does better in shorter forms. I think Dr. Horrible was just the right length. I would enjoy another similar installment. Of course, if they made a full-length feature, I'd be on board for that as well, but I think they'd have better creative success sticking to the under-an-hour approach.

I finally got around to listening to Commentary The Musical a couple weeks ago. I keep getting snippets of it stuck in my head:

Zack is doin' us a little favor
Blessin' Commentary with his flavor
Don't tell him it's a musical
Cuz then he might kill us all

Nathan's "I'm Better Than Neil" song is another one that just tickles me.

I was fascinated by the obvious Sondheim influence in Commentary, even more so than in the main body of Dr. Horrible.

Commentary! is on constant loop in my car - I get a kick out of the lyrics, and the music is not only catchy, it's actually pretty well-crafted in most cases. If the Whedons decided to simply cut a serious original album, either a musical itself or just a good selection of songs, I'd be right there. The lyrics are clever, in most cases, the singing is generally good - even when Joss sings, because the song suits his ability, and the harmonies are better than expected. Nathan is the surprising one, really - "I'm Better Than Neil" is just fun, and catchy as hell.

And Penny's comment after "Neil's Turn" always makes me laugh: "Neil, you're not alone - you're just kind of a douche!"

And in "Steve"s Song," Steve sings "And yes, on the horizon there's a sequel ..."

^ I keep thinking I should rip the audio from Commentary, but I just never get around to it. Takes too long, that and I'm too lazy.

Joss' song is hilarious. I take it as self-deprecating largely referencing his tendency to get WAY too deep now and then in his commentaries ("Objects in Space" anyone?). The song about the writers' strike is quite brilliant too.

My one disappointment was that there are no captions for the Commentary track. I looked up the lyrics online to be able to follow them, because honestly, the audio quality for Commentary is not very good at all, and combine that with no lips to read or actions to interpret, and some of those lines are pretty much incomprehensible, and a lot is lost.

Some fairly funny and interesting stuff in there. For instance, they were able to film on the Universal lot "for a song" due to Joss's connections from Serenity.

Okay so not only now do I have to go out and grab the DVD but also listen to commentary the musical which I've heard so much about. How is the normal audio commentary? I read on the back of the box that there is a normal commentary track, I assume it's pretty standard? I agree that Joss seems to work better in short formats. Nevertheless I think that a full length film would be fantastic...I want to see Dr. Horrible as part of the Evil League of Evil! I'm also interested in how they bring back Penny (that article says they've talked about vairous ways)

It's funny. I'd call it a little crowded - lots of people involved. But Commentary! is the real reason to buy the DVD.

I'm gonna have to listen again, cos I don't remember having any problem following it.
I love the whole thing, from Strike! to Steve's Song.
A Heart, Broken does make me wonder how close to Joss' real views it is, I mean is he just in it for comicon?
