I just listened to "Of Q and Women" ... I still need to collect my thoughts for a detailed review, but for now I'll just say this ... BRILLIANT!

One can always count on LF to brighten one's month. It's nice to see the other characters moving back into the foreground--from Trask to Niles to Liem, "Q and Woman" packed three months of development into one. However painful it was to hear the death of Mak, this episode is solid evidence that it was the right decision. (I wonder if Quinn will be back to save the day at some later point?)

Now that Trask is out of the closet, I am going to have to start making a table of known gay vs. known straight characters in the HF/DP/Intrepid/Odyssey/Helena universe. It seems to be approaching 30% gay, which, all activism aside, is statistically less than likely. Indeed, it's approaching silliness.

I have every plans to bring Q back at some point. Juts not soon.

Believe it or not from get go I have every plan for Trask to be gay. But its nothing I plan to be over bearing upon. Its just part of who he is. The way I look at it in the well adjusted 25th century your choice of partner should be about as big a deal as your choice of soup from the replicator.

Initially, I was not thrilled with the tagged on appearance of Q at the end of episode 9.

I am glad to report though that "Of Q and Women" proved me wrong and is a delightful adventure, presenting us with a different Q to be dazzled by as well as a better insight in to Kate Niles' character. Its not a wholly original take on the "Its A Wonderful Life" formula, but its entertaining nonetheless, with fun cameos and in-jokes. I like that this Q isn't an egotistical nightmare the way John de Lancie's Q was. There were a number of ways to go about introducing Q to the fold of Section 31 / Lost Frontier and a lot of them would have been hackneyed. This presentation was anything but!

Finally, yeah, the big talking point seems to be the revelation about Trask. Very gracefully done, with good taste and not at all beaten over our heads. All I can say is its nice to know that gay marriage is a solid, legit thing in the 25th century.

As ever, Eric and the folks at DP have brought out yet another excellent episode. Bring on #11!
