Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

I live in Minnesota. I'm pretty sure a person could get away with wearing that in the Winter and no one bat an eyelid.

That said, this is one of their wares that I'm actually thinking of saving up for!

So, I forgot to mention this other convention buy I'm excited about. It's a preorder, slated for release in December 2019, but I had to preorder it at the convention to get a pretty hefty discount.

They were kind enough to let me try on the prototype, which fit like a glove (note that some details of the jacket are missing, notably the "solar system patch" on the shoulder.

Now, to just put it out of my mind for a year and a half....

That's pretty awesome!!! Donny, you are a natural! :)

Nice.

Was there a reason that coat never resurfaced in the sequels?

I usually work feverishly on this project on the weekends, but I feeling a little burned out so I’ll be playing it safe and taking the weekend off to play some video games, and yes...engage in social activities. I’m also pretty busy at work on Star Trek Online right now so I just need a pause from modeling and *gulp* Star Trek.

Not that any of you need to know this, but I’ve gotten quite used to my routine so it feels a little weird to not work on the project this weekend. We all know these breaks never last long so I’ll be right back at it before you know it ;-)
Where are you going next when you do return, Donny? The crawl way and it's assembly's, Engineering deck, Spock's quarters, or maybe Scotty's quarters? I've always wanted to figure the decks and quarters theme from TOS; for example Yeoman Janice Rand. Deck 12, 3C 46. Lt. Commander Spock. Deck 5, 3F 121. How would you figure it out in your thought process while engaging this task, Donny?

Just to give everyone an update on where I'm sitting with things...

I'm enjoying this break I'm taking currently, as it's allowing me to re-balance my life in a few ways (fitness, social life, etc). I admit I got pretty caught up into ONLY working on this project in my free time and not allowing myself time for much else.

I'm also considering tinkering with some other modeling projects to take a brief break from the TOS stuff (I may do a quick small project or two in my TWOK or TUC builds, or even dabble in some 2001: A Space Odyssey modeling. Hell, i could even finish my Ds9-era Klingon BoP bridge, since I last left it so close to being done). I've wanted to polish up some of my exisiting TWOK era stuff for some time now, so I may end up doing that for a minute.

God. There's just not enough time to do everything I want to do!

I don't want to take too long of a break from the TOS project, as I don't want to end up losing all motivation for it. It's just....nice to breathe for a minute.

Stay tuned...

I for one wouldn't be against some new work in those other projects of yours...as far as I'm concerned it's all great! :techman:

I for one would mind you doing something from 2001. It will probably end up better than mine and than I would have to do it again to match your standard ;) Just kidding :). Enjoy some time off.

Where can I see your 2001 stuff?

Also, if anyone’s interested, I’ve settled on making the Enterprise-A bridge as seen in TUC while I take a break from the TOS project. I’ll also be making the parts to make an Excelsior bridge while I’m at it. ;-) I’ve always wanted to do a super-realistic model of those bridges and the inspiration is high right now.

I’ll post some shots in my Enterprise-A thread once I get done something worthy of showing

Here’s that thread if anyone is interested in reviewing:

I know you finished the Galileo already, but I just came across this awesome reference art.

Great art and interesting concept, but it's not the TOS shuttlecraft. One, immediate, glaring difference...off the top of my head.
