Well, when you're... heh heh... entertaining guests... the more room the better.

That's what the "meditation pods" were for!The low ceiling over that bed would probably make some positions more difficult to attain while "entertaining guests." You'd think Roddenberry of all people would have pointed that out when they were designing the room.![]()
Thanks Donny, and for all the other feedback guys.I don't remember how exactly I came up with the figures, but I just checked my in-game measurements. The mattress and cushions themselves come out to be 4.5 feet wide by 8.5 feet long, the frame itself being roughly 5 feet wide by 10 feet at it's longest point.
She said in her reply to you, though, that when she took those measurements, the mattress and upholstery were gone from the bed, so she was measuring the frame. Looking at this screencap of Captain Styles when he gets called to the bridge, he's laying along the forward edge of the bed, and there's a TON of space to his left. I could believe that once you take away the wedge-shaped upholstery you'd be left with a mattress that's about 4-1/2' to 5' wide.
I'd pay real money for a virtual tour of the Ent-A.I keep bouncing from project to project. Worked on some Enterprise-A corridors this last weekend. Here's a video

Although because they were first built for TMP, they aren't at all out of place on the Enterprise-A.Excellent as always. Really shows off what a good job they did redressing the TNG corridors
I've been tempted to do a more "idealized" version of these TUC sets, making certain changes to further differentiate the sets from their TNG counterparts. For example, I'd swap out the TNG warp-core for a more period-accurate version. And yes, making all the doors red would be nice (they only painted the inside of the doors of the quarters set and the Galley set, but left the outside of all the doors orange). However, the screen-accurate obsessiveness inside me screams to leave it all as it was. Thoughts?I really wish they'd painted the doors red, instead of leaving them as orange. I know they probably didn't want to muck about with the TNG sets too much, but surely a lick of paint would've been ok!
Those changes would be inspiring to see, especially the period-accurate warp-core as seen in TMP.I've been tempted to do a more "idealized" version of these TUC sets, making certain changes to further differentiate the sets from their TNG counterparts. Maybe I'll test out the doors tonight when I get home.

I think you should ignore that voice and go for it. I'd love to see red doors and Engineering with a proper TMP-style warp core. However, the screen-accurate obsessiveness inside me screams to leave it all as it was. Thoughts?
I'm gonna go for it. This sounds exciting, actually. Getting to be a little creative instead of a straight on-screen replica.I think you should ignore that voice and go for it. I'd love to see red doors and Engineering with a proper TMP-style warp core.
