Don Rickles Passes. :(

I found this on YT. It's a Johnny Carson Roast, but Don spends most of his time roasting everyone else onstage.

Vintage Rickles.

When I was a kid and staying up to see The Tonight Show was a big deal, Rickles as a guest (or host) made it an event. On the Carson and Letterman shows, when the bullfighter music played and Rickles walked out, you didn't know how far out and offensive his insults might get, but you knew it would be hilarious.

I am so glad I spent a couple hundred bucks I couldn't really afford to see him in Vegas in the mid-'90s. I wasn't up close, but you could tell, he was patrolling the perimeter of that stage for potential victims. And the people that he insulted seemed to love it more than anyone!

Rickles was also a WW2 Navy veteran and served on a torpedo boat tender in the Pacific. And he was also in one of the all-time great Navy movies, Run Silent, Run Deep.

Sad to see him pass.

Sorry about the necro, but there's one YT video I downloaded and watched probably every day since it popped up as suggested I feel the need to share. Vintage Don, plus Johnny Carson doing his best Don impersonation.

And he played a vampire in INNOCENT BLOOD.

His Bob Newhart impersonation is even better....

Some of those jokes to that black guy though... hoo, I hope that's part of him still doing Rickles.

Most likely. When Don was roasting someone, though he never kept his attention on that one person, he did some pretty edgy stuff about black people.
