Domesitc Violence is funny!

Garm Bel Iblis

Commodore
In "Crossfire" kira and odo are talking about a wife who beat up her husband and then they were caught having sex on the upper level of the promenade.

So it's funny cuz the wife beat up the husband? yuck yuck.

If I remember correctly, didn't it turn out that it wasn't wasn't domestic violence, but consensual S&M? Or am I confusing it with some other show that had a similar storyline?

Anyway, one could accuse DS9 and other shows of not having the balls to have the same storyline with genders reversed. Notice that almost any time that there is an S&M couple, they'll always show the male to be the submissive one, or, when rough Klingon mating happens as in Trek shows, the male will always be the one with the injuries. I mean, it only makes sense when it's Quark or Neelix mating with a Klingon woman, but Worf getting injured while Jadzia is not? Come on!

As I recall, Jadzia had plenty of bruises in 'Looking for par'mach in all the wrong places'.

No, it was domestic violence followed by what seems to be amazing make-up sex.

This scene really bothered me. Would anybody just laugh it off if the husband beat up his wife and she forgave him because he's good in bed? I doubt it. I know I would find it unacceptable. Domestic violence is wrong, and shouldn't be used for humor, but that's just me.
