The religious cult itself didn't do much for me, but outside that the episode held together quite well.
This would be my guess, residual traces of prior imprints triggered by certain stimuli.
From this point I think Adelle will be keeping an eye on him too. I think we'll find that he doesn't answer directly to her, that he's an agent of whoever Adelle was talking to on the phone in the previous episode.
Apparently ratings for this episode were up slightly from last week.

In retrospect, that makes sense. Doesn't change that it felt incredibly off, but it's logical.
I think a big part of that is because of the release of Watchmen last week - ie, a movie directed at the show's primary target audience.
Oh, so her acting was the cause of her character's decisions in the plot, and her acting was the cause of her dialog. I see.....
I liked this episode.
I still have no idea what's going on or why I should care though.
That's not necessarily a bad thing mind you, I mean I'm still enjoying trying to fit the pieces together... But for Joe Schmo TV Viewer I'm sure they'd be flummoxed by now.
They really need to start giving reasons why Actives make sense to use over regular operatives and how a TOP SECRET organization/corporation? can go entirely funded by a VERY SELECT group of Clients who are either too lonely or have an overabundance of extra legal problems.
I really hope there's more to it all than just that. I mean, there has to be, right?

They are. We are told in a couple of conversations over the weeks that Echo exhibits "adaptability" that makes her a popular doll, but is also what makes Dominic view her as a danger. Apparently Alpha showed this adaptability as well.
The writing a a mute point, since she could NOT portray being another person at all. She was actually breaking free briefly, as I stated, but fell compeltely back into Dushku persona. Doesn't matter if the script calls for her to do a jig and sing "Marry Had A Little Lamb" for five minutes, over & over again -- it would still be Dushku singing. A real acotor/actress, can become somebody else. So, no -- you DON'T see.
I thought that this episode was above average and what I like is that it's getting better. It seems that the ratings are not bad either when the DVR is factored in with the Live+7 numbers.
This show did not hook me at the start, that's for sure. I only stayed around because of Whedon or I might not have watched beyond the first one. I liked the one with the singer even less. All in all though I am glad now that I did.

I agree that Echo's sudden behaviour change is a result of her personalities merging.
The storyline with Victor and Sierra was interesting, despite it being partly there for comedy value.
It is also interesting that Victor, despite being an Active and supposedly not having sexual responses to women, still has a visible "man reaction" to Sierra while dufus Helo is blind enough not to notice that his hot neighbour broke in to his apartment for him, came all the way to his office with his pain medication, cooked him a very large dinner and all the while she's wearing a top that left very little to the imagination.
My scientific analysis is that the mindwiped, innocent guy is still more straight that Helo is.

Looks like the Victor/Sierra subplot will continue next week.
Overall I have to give this episode an Average... It was above average until Dushku severely broke character (or the writers did) in the last few minutes. That takes it down a notch.

Sadly true.
Obviously if such a thing had happened it would have been the writers decision and not Dushku's (that's how TV's made). No such thing happened, though.
He wrote next week's episode but he's not directing it.
