Doggy love and troubles and cute things they do

I noticed we don't have any threads on our doggy pals so here it is! Let's talk about the doggy friends we love, ask questions and get advice on our doggy problems, share the cute and silly things they do and you can even share pictures of your canine buddies if you want!

I have two small doggy pals Cotton is a Maltese/Jack Russell mix and Nicki is a Shih Tzu mix we rescued both from the humane society we got Cotton first and then add Nicki months ago. They get along great but Nicki has the urge to play all the time and when Cotton wants to rest Nicki will jump on her and keep bugging her til Cotton gives in or we put Nicki in her crate.

Nicki is younger than Cotton so they act like sisters. Nicki follows Cotton a lot I have pictures of them but I'm not sure how to put them on here so I can show them to you all.

I like dogs but I am not allowed to have dogs ,,, so I have apartment mates. you know...

anyway found this neat image of dogs enjoy.. :) it was almost perfect but really dogs always mess up perfect things right..???

My dog is a 3 year old Doberman named Kaiser. He has an amazing personality and is truly my best friend. I try to do everything with my boy.
He's somewhat of a spoiled baby... He's currently taking up quite a bit more than his 1/3 of the bed that I talked my wife into letting him have! My kids adore him and he's treated like one of the family.
I think that Dobes still sometimes get a bad rap, but they're some of the friendliest, most fun loving dogs that I've come across. They're excellent family dogs. Kaiser still maintains his protective quality though. Just don't come in his backyard uninvited. :)

Here are Marley the Golden Retriever and Max the Shetland Sheepdog enjoying the sunshine in our back garden a few months ago. Marley is 7 and was wild as a puppy but is now in old man mode. Max is 1 1/2 and a bundle of energy. He entices Marley to play fight on a daily basis, which is the only time Marley is active, and watching two dogs with such a size disparity play fighting is hilarious (Marley knows exactly how rough he can be without hurting Max). They adore each other and often sleep curled up together.

They are so cute!!!! My sister's dog is a Boxer and his name is Mack. He is a big puppy! His tail wagging hurts though. When he stands up he is bigger than me!

I have never owned a dog of my own - I live alone and work 9 hours a day, and my house and yard are very small, so any dog who lived here would quickly become frustrated and upset. But my parents are dog lovers and so I've become used to being around dogs. (Their last one died a few years ago and they are still trying to come to terms with it.)

I honestly don't know if I could handle the responsibility of caring for a dog. I have never been responsible for any other living creature - I think the stress would be too much for me. Dogs are fine, but I personally wouldn't know how to take care of one.

So glad you are offering equal time for dawgies! Got a nearly 12 year old bulldog named Max. They average 8-10 years so he is very very old. He sleeps as much as our cats do! When he was young he raced around like a whirlwind and ran into things because he couldn't stop very well! We used to have carpet and that helped, but when we put in wood flooring he had to learn to brake all over a gain! He actually put a hole in one wall Nd knocked over tons of stuff!

How do you stop a dog from chewing things their not supposed to? Nicki has chews but she still gets a hold of things. We have a crate but I don't think it'll be very fair to her to keep her from playing with Cotton either.

We tried spraying stuff with BitterApple, a product designed to keep dogs from chewing on stuff. It worked for three of our four dogs; who I suspect simply would have grown out of it anyway.

One of them, however, continued to chew on everything her whole life. No shoe or handbag or hat was safe from her! We learned not to leave any of those things within her reach and got get new toys she could have. We spent extra time playing with her and her toys to reinforce her desire to play with her toys and not our stuff!

Longest I had any dog was 10 years, a Boston terrier, he died 9 years ago and still miss him. He showed up in a dream last night, as he sometimes does. Worst thing he would do is find snacks in the cat litter box, and then want to kiss you.

His favorite quiet game began when I once hid his favorite bacon scented treat in a room when he'd be outside doing his business or sleeping in another room. It would be in plain sight where he could reach it, not under or behind anything. He came back in, and in a few seconds he began to smell it, and he searched the room trying to find it, gradually zeroing in on the location. There was a visible "Aha!" moment when he'd discover it, right before grabbing it.

Unfortunately, he began expecting it to be in the room even if it wasn't, every time after a trip outside.

We have kept dogs for a long time, all of them rescue dogs, up until a few years ago when our last dog (a black Labrador) died of old age. My sister also keeps two magnificent young Rhodesian ridgebacks raised from puphood, who are absolutely hilarious and so sweet, and utterly inseparable.

My next door neighbour has a black English cocker spaniel, who always seems excited to meet me, and who always, always runs out barking happily whenever she is taken outside in the back garden.

I might get another dog soon. I don't know which breed or shape or size, but without doubt it will be a rescue dog again.

We haven't had a dog for a while as we all work and have a small garden.

When I was born though, my parents had a collie crossbreed rescue and when they brought me home, she pretty much decided I was hers. Parents were just there for opposable thumbs:lol:. Unfortunately, before we had her, she'd been hit by a car, so when she got tired, her back legs just went on her and then just look at us to tell us so:(

Still miss having her around though it's been about thirty years now.

@Zulu Romeo, One of the pubs we go to has a couple of Ridgebacks and they're very friendly too (Maybe too friendly for one of my mates as one of them bowled him over:lol: )

Our neighbours also have a rather sizable dog (I'm not entirely sure what breed) and he's friendly, a little clumsy - but also easily frightened. One of the neighbourhood cats swatted him and he apparently went charging into the house, up the stairs and under the bed.

When he's inside though, it's always one loud deep bark to say hello and you just wave at him and he's ok then.

Our dog, Brody, proving he has as much talent as Miss America with a solo cup:

Nicki likes to bite/nip Cotton on the leg when they're playing and she'll also do it when Cotton is just trying to hang out and rest. She will also get in Cotton's face and bark when she wants to play or if Cotton starts barking at someone or something outside. Is Nicki trying to be the boss of Cotton?

Also Nicki bout had a heart attack when my count down alarm went off. I use the alarm to try to get off the toilet at a certian time.

Falling off the toilet usually wakes me. I've no need for an alarm.

We had to put our sweet Zoe to sleep Friday. She had lymphoma, and was going downhill fast. Really didn't want to do it, but it was the best option for her. :weep:

Mom's dog, Luna, with one of her toys:

She's got four or five of them... they are from Ikea and are usually washed all at one time. Wish I had an image with all of them hanging from their ears on a clothes line; looks hillarious!

My Girls: Wilma the Lab/Hound mix and Azul the Terrier/Shepherd mix. Both shelter dogs- Azul was adopted in Mexico and Wilma came from a hoarder in Tenn.

Azul is going in for a haircut today. They escaped last night for 6 hours and she's covered in burrs. I tried to get them out but there's just too many so she's gonna lose a lot of her lovely coat.
