does the film heighten your appreciation of TOS?

Yes, because now I realize what we lost, and what we were given in it's place.
Oh come on now...we didn't lose anything...we still have the original which will always be best...but you can't open your heart up to the re-boot just a little bit? Now granted if they fuck up the sequel I'm bailing...but stick with it until then.....will you? Great! Glad to hear it!
I think I love you, Cakes. :luvlove:

As a long time Trekkie, I have never been interested in watching TOS. The space-cheese factor and olde time sets/fx were always too much of a distraction for me. But seeing the characters in this movie has made me interested in delving into TOS and seeing their creative origins.

That still blows my mind how someone says they're a trekkie but doesn't like TOS...I'm sorry it's going to take me a long time to get desensitized and or used to that. I'd like to hear what you think after you've watched a TOS or two.

But LOL how can the bare assed sets and minimal FX be a distraction? I think you actually may need them AS A DISTRACTION...because there is dialogue going on and some people can't handle "all the talking".....ho hummmmmm.

Actually, yes.

I was surprised to find that CBS (i think) put up full star trek episodes on Youtube, HD quality too. I watched an episode or two for the first time in ages. New Star Trek really brought back the enjoyment of seeing Kirk/Spock/McCoy interact and motivated me to watch online. Amok Time! Spock's gigantic smile when he sees Kirk is still alive is still hilarious, and kind of apt given the emotion he showed in this movie.
