Does Star Trek XI Feature Whales?

Now we all know that in The Voyager Home, Kirk and co brought back a couple of humpback whales. Since the Enterprise-D featured a cetecean ops area, it can be inferred that the whales were there for one and one reason only: the total domination of the galaxy. I mean, there's no reason for them to be there, so obviously they influenced their way onto Federation ships and secretly control Starfleet.

Do you think the whales have anything to do with the plot?

I hope Abrams and Co will have the foresight to confirm the time travel and mind control capabilities that were hinted at by Andrew Probert.

Well, my inside info says that Future Guy from Enterprise will be part of the plot and is the one Nero works for in Trek XI...
And also according to my inside info Future Guy is actually a humpback whale.

But keep all this between us :shifty:

So I've been wondering, not much has been established about whales canonically speaking. We do know that whales are long-lived, and therefore they have been alive in the 23rd century. And since Abrams and his cohorts are saying they'd like to provide various links to the other Trek incarnations, this could be a perfect link to Star Trek IV. Have a scene where Kirk and Spock enter an alien night club in search of George and Gracie. While they're looking around, they pass by some whales. You know what would make this scene even better? Have the whales swimming in guacamole! The potential is awe-inspiringly awesome.

Discuss.

Star Trek movies which mention or feature whales are a big hit with audiences. Look at ST IV, ST II, and First Contact (the latter two have Moby Dick analogies). If Abrams wants XI to succeed, he'd better include at least one whale!

Actually I think whales should not be included...

The last few years penguins are the way to go if you want success.
So I vote for some CG, talking, space trekking penguins.

Any species of Whale is not welcome in this movie. In fact, ANY kind of fish shouldn't referenced or shown in this movie at all. I watch Star Trek to see NEW lifeorms, NOT creatures that we can find in our local reservoir or a nearby river.

I will soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boycott this film if there aren't any whales in it.

^^Plus, can you really find whales in your local reservoir and nearby river ?
What about humans ? They are all over Trek and you get to see those everyday, everywhere in real life :p:p

Screw it...There should be whales and there should be harpoons involved...Maybe Nero wants to kill then whales

On second thought, fuck the harpoons

Maybe George and Gracie are still alive in the 24th century, and travel back to the 23rd with Nimoy Spock to stop Nero.

Hmmm...penguins, you say, eh? Well, they'd have to be the right sort of penguins...

Now that you mention it, they do add gravitas to the proceedings somehow.

And the kids love 'em!!

Smile and wave boys...just smile and wave...
