Does ST09 make 'Nemesis' less consequential, or more tragic?

I'd say that Spock coming to terms with his half-human nature was more than a superficial plot point.
Like hell it wasn't superficial. That's, in fact, a great example of what I'm talking about. That's just the justification for the stupid scene where Spock shot Kirk out an airlock, which was a poor attempt to force Nimoy into the plot.

It took Prime Spock almost 7 years in the original TOS to "come to terms with his "half-human nature. Why should this movie be a pivotal point in that? TOS handled that quite well up until TMP. For Orci & Kurtzman just to ignore that just to make "NuSpock", is another added "wank" just to make him more "accessible" to the general public......

Poor according to? You?
They didn't need any either.
Yes, of course him. Pretty egotistical of you that you keep repeating yourself to us that don't like the film.
And yes they relied HEAVILY on the sets and action to carry the movie to what they wanted.

It wasn't about making Spock "more accessable", it was about telling Spock's story in 2 hours, rather than between 1964 and 1979.

But telling Spock's story in two hours is in no way satisfying. You just miss so much of the journey. Star Trek 2009 really reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender film (or vice-versa). Even the uninitiated can tell they're missing alot. YMMV.

Exactly! It was that journey that made the character who he was. So many well told stories came about because of his "inner battle".
