Does Oprah visit to Australia - does it make you want to visit?

For those who don't know Oprah Winfrey has been in Australia for the last week and a few days, as part of Tourism Australia's marketing campaign and to film two shows (that happened tonight). It's been in all the media. So when the shows air next month ... does it make you want to visit Australia?

Australia is an incredible and beautiful place with lots of natural wonders to see; I don't think it needs Oprah to make people want to visit.

I've never felt a desire to be in the presence of Oprah. Australia, on the other hand, is a place which I would be quite pleased to visit if I had the time and money necessary to do so.

I avoid Oprah wherever she's found. But Australia looks very nice in pictures. If I had an extra $10-15K sitting around to blow on a vacation, I'd consider a visit.

There should be an option: I have wanted to visit Australia for a while, and Oprah had nothing to do with it.

This must be the wrong crowd to ask because I can't stand Oprah either. Plus as she does her show in Chicago, I've had more than enough of her. But Australia is probably on a lot of our "to visit" lists, including mine. We don't need Oprah for that, although she might highlight some good spots to visit or something?

^Agreed. I'm so tired of Oprah and don't give a rat's ass about what she says or does. I just wish she would go away.

I have wanted to visit Australia since I was a kid, but it will never happen because I don't have, and probably never will have, the money to do so. But if a ton of cash ever miraculously came my way, I would go to Australia and New Zealand, most definitely.

I didn't know she was planning a visit because I don't pay attention to her in the slightest. I have, however, been to Australia before and would love to visit again.

The Australians are apparently paying her $5M to go there and film two shows. They're even temporarily renaming the Sydney Opera House as the Oprah House.

I've never seen a single one of her shows so no impact on me whatsoever.

Some of her American audience came to Tasmania. One of the women said she thought that Tasmania would be a tropical island with palm trees because she knew it was the most southern state and she though that the further south you went the more tropical places got.

I don't know about that. A lot of my female friends have been big fans of Oprah for a long time. I'm talking educated women in their twenties with careers and such. My sister watches Oprah all the time.
