Does JANUARY feel kind of lame without LOST & 24?

These two shows were ALWAYS something to look forward too. To know that they would run straight through with new episodes EVERY week until May.

Now the month is flat...there's nothing really to look forward to at all...the networks keep pushing out more fomulaic COP SHOW & LAWYER show midseason dreck...along with mindless "reality" talent competitions.

LOST and 24 were two of the most addictive entertainment shows ever and it's a blow losing both of them.

I dunno about lame but it feels weird. 24 would've had it's season premiere yesterday and the day before yesterday if it hadn't been canceled. both shows were addictive to me and there's no real fix out there for shows like that.

While I miss LOST, its ending wrapped things up for me nicely. I know others didn't like it, but to me it felt complete.

But 24? To me, it was a slow and painful death. I miss it had ended a bit sooner than it did. I don't miss it at all.

I AM missing something new and interesting. There really isn't anything that is really exciting right now. I'm looking forward, however, to the return of Walking Dead and Doctor Who. But that will be quite a long wait, I'm afraid.

24--no, Lost-yes.

Lost's final season was mediocre and in hindsight the show doesn't add up to a whole lot riding mostly on cool hooks, cliffhangers, twists and inventive ideas instead of being a nice coherent satisfying narrative whole but when it was on it was appointment viewing that didn't fail to hold your attention and try to do something fresh and new.

I've said it before and I'll say it again--tv has really gone down the crapper in the last ten years. Sitcoms, dramas, sff, cartoons etc all are nowhere near as good or satisfying as those in previous years. It is all about recycling ideas and storylines hoping the audiende either has short memories or has never seen what decent television looks like.

I've all but stopped caring about tv and the few shows I still watch don't really involve me. I actually have been watching a lot of older shows like TNG, Roseanne, DS9, The Golden Girls, Three's Company, Dallas etc and find that they hold up better than fresh "original" shows networks are churning out now.

This is more or less how I've felt for a long time now, although I recently started watching DVD's of The 4400, and find that to be a fine show. I was also thinking about checking out both Lost and 24 sometime soon since I've never seen either.

I agree with you about older shows though. They beat almost anything made now. That, and the fact that our generation seems to be stuck on making inferior remakes of classics we loved as kids.

Nope to each series. TV is indeed lame for me right now. Basically I have been watching "Community", "Big Bang Theory", "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (when it finally airs), "Doctor Who" (when it airs), and "Smallville" (although I'm becoming less enthused with it recently).

This is exactly how I feel about both of these shows. I stopped watching 24 years before it ended...and while LOST's finale was a rather severe disappointment, the weekly episode WAS a must-see for me back in the days before I knew it was all going to amount to a big fat zero.

As for what's on now...well, I care a little bit about White Collar and Southland, and those two shows are putting out new episodes now. But other than that, I'm watching DVDs - working my way through Burn Notice on DVD at the moment, and am set to start watching Supernatural soon since I've not seen it and some folks over in SFF convinced me to give it a try.

I also care about NCIS, Bones and Castle...but I've not been watching them lately. I'm kinda unmotivated to follow a TV schedule when it's just as easy to wait until the DVD sets come out in the summer.

Nope. I never was a 24 fan, and a friend and I are going through Lost on Blu Ray, watching episodes every other Thursday. She's only seen the show through early season 3 ...which is actually a little funny since that's when I started watching the show (I later backtracked to find out what I'd missed).

Lost, why yes, of course I do. I just caught up on Breaking Bad (absolutely love it by the way) and waiting for season 4 to come around. I'm thinking about tackling The Wire next. Right now I've got Shameless, Californication, Chuck, V, No Ordinary Family, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, Community, Smallville, Supernatural and Fringe to fill the void. Love to have new episodes of Lost though.

I don't really miss either. I never watched much of 24 and the last season of Lost kind of ruined the experience for me.

24 had run its course, as seen with the truly awful season 8. It's not worth watching 24 episodes to see the 5-6 good ones, especially when the showrunners can't be bothered to plan things out in advance despite knowing they have a full 24 episode season. The show had a good run though.

For Lost, I definitely miss that show, but have to wonder if instead of the flash sideways being what it was, that they really were in a new timeline but had memories of the other timeline, and what would a season seven would be like then?

Does JANUARY feel kind of lame without LOST & 24?

Actually, it's the lack of sex I'm not crazy about.
