Re: Does it piss anyone off that they had to use time travel
OK, now if the movie takes place at different times, such as presenting different courses of action taking place, and then the scene changes to a different time period, then that is fine; however, Spock traveling back in time to help his younger self, to me, is L-A-M-E.

ALL of the "Time Travel" stories have based this upon certain information that HAS been released, indicating that the film takes place in multiple timeframes.Cranston said:
I agree that we should take ALL plot rumors so far with very large grains of salt. But I think the time travel element, while not being officially confirmed, seems fairly likely -- several sites have reported that their "sources" have unofficially confirmed at least that much. One of these is Trekmovie.com, which to date seems to be fairly well plugged-in:
Article here.TrekMovie.com has confirmed that elements of the original AICN rumor report are true (such as the inclusions of the Romulans and time-travel), however a source tells us that much of the original AICN story is still pure speculation.
Of course, I could be completely and utterly wrong here. Which is fine too. As for me, I don't really mind one way or another, as long as the idea is executed well and entertainingly.
There's quite a bit of extrapolation from that, to "there's time travel in the movie." Well, yeah... the one-day-at-a-time sort, and the "according to the narrative" sort... but there's NO formally released information, from anyone involved in the film, that states, either in a roundabout way or in a direct way, that there will be time travel BY CHARACTERS IN THE FILM.
Yes, we... THE AUDIENCE... will be "time travelling" throughout the film. Whether we're following a character in his "real time" or whether it's flashbacks and so forth... NONE of that is known with any form of certainty.
That doesn't mean that the whole film won't be "Spock and Spock's Excellent Adventure" (calling for a cameo by George Carlin of course!). But we don't KNOW. And all this guessing... it's pointless.
