He's a clue on Jeopardy?

Question tonight "Matt Smith is the latest actor to play which tv character, previously portrayed by Tom Baker and Peter Davison".

Whoa! Was that from America? Or is this a European/UK Jeopardy?

I'm not sure if I want to record it now or not, but what was the category and $ amount?

Did "Jeopardy" get it right? By which I mean, was the correct response "Who is the Doctor?" or "Who is Doctor Who?"

"Who is Doctor Who?"

That would be the correct answer.

The character should only be called "The Doctor" within the fictional confines of the show and on geeky message forums. In the real world, he should be referred to as "Doctor Who."

Just saying "Dr. Who" could be considered answering in the form of a question ;)

"Who is Dr. Who" is just redundant.

I wonder if they would of taken "who is the Doctor?" - especially as the the character has been creditted in as The Doctor since the late 70s iirc

SCI-FI "DR."

AND TOM BAKER

"Who is Doctor Who?"

I wonder the same thing. If I were them, I would say both answers would be acceptable.

Still, this is pretty cool. Any sign of a YouTube video yet?

^ Probably not. Jeopardy contestants typically suck at pop culture.

All three of the contestants appeared to know the answer.

Meanwhile, just 3 days after his debut on BBC America, the Eleventh Doctor turned up on the quiz show Jeopardy! The $800 question in the 1st round, under the category "Is This a Rerun?" was: "Matt Smith is the latest actor to be this Sci-fi Doctor, previously played by Peter Davison and Tom Baker". All three of the contestants appeared to know the answer.

^ That's really surprising. Most Americans don't even know what Doctor Who is let alone pay attention to online news about upcoming characters. I guess the mention of Tom Baker gave it away.

I bet a lot of people who don't watch the show would be able to figure it out from the "Sci-Fi Dr.(Doctor)" clue.

Not trying to rain on the parade, but has anyone else noticed the sharp decline of both the quality of questions and the quality of contestants on Jeopardy? The questions just seem to be SO much simpler than they used to be, questions about British sci-fi shows notwithstanding...

At one point when I was watching recently, all three contestants were in negative territory late in the first round! That never seemed to happen before...and they do seem to be hitting more pop culture/entertainment categories as opposed to the more academic stuff the show used to cover...or is it just me?

(Edited for the irony of me complaining about the decline in intelligence on the show...then promply misspelling the name of the show in the post...)
