"Does anyone remember when we used to be explorers?"

Oh, absolutely. TNG got frustrating at times. Its opening narration said "To boldly go where no one has gone before," but it spent most of seven seasons going places where others had gone before.

My feelings exactly. TNG seemed to have more "intergalactic ambulance" stories than deep space exploratory ones.

They put so many restricitons on their "mission", that they might as well have stayed home and crawled under their beds.

To sort of seek out new life (which usually takes possession of a crew member), new civilizations (only if they are warp capable), to boldy...er...carefully, so as not to contaminate or offend, where no one (from the Federation) has gone before.

Next week: Troi's mom and Worf's son take mud baths. CAN YOU WAIT?
