Does anyone miss "Glee?"

It's one of the shows I have been rewatching again lately and I got to say I do miss it. I love musicals and this was one you got ever week. I think I like the humor more now than I use to. It can be petty but they do poke fun at itself quite often. Doesn't hurt that all the woman are sexy. I didn't even mind the second wave of characters like Miley,Unique and so forth. Not sure why they dumped them in the final season except for KItty and brought in new people, especially since the new people were basically just props for the main cast to deal with.

It has also been able to make me cry like when Santana was outed, the school shooting episode and the episode that deals with the death of FInn.

I think the first season is some real quality television. The storylines revolving around the adults really made the show. Will, Terri, Emma, Sue, etc. The kids were always at least fun to watch up until the end of the second season. Somewhere in the 3rd season it became unwatchable and I ditched it. I should at least get around to watching the finale one day.

As someone who watched and enjoyed the whole series, no, I can't say as I miss Glee itself - it definitely ran its course, and then some - but I would be very receptive to a jukebox musical show about adult characters. They wouldn't even have to be showbiz professionals, necessarily; when I lived in DC, I was in a competitive team karaoke league called District Karaoke, which was definitely Glee-like in certain respects:

So, I could definitely picture a sitcom show built around ordinary city Janes and Joes who just happen to have wild night lives performing popular songs, always scheming new props/costumes/concepts, and having peer rivalries and the like. Just don't make them high schoolers; that well's gone dry. ;)

You should also try at least watch "The Quarterback" as well in season 5 if you don't want to watch the whole season. That is the one that deals with Fins death.

That sounds pretty good. I also wouldn't mind a new version of "Fame" or a "Pitch Perfect" show as well. I also wish that "Roadies" hadn't been cancelled by Showtime. Why didn't people get into that show? I hear "Vinyl" was good as well but I haven't seen it as of yet.

^ An a capella show would also be great! But again, adults, please, not college kids. (Though I also enjoy the Pitch Perfect movies.)

It definitely got totally bonkers, but I dug the ride for its insanity. As for finales, the penultimate episode ("2009") is a direct prequel to the Pilot, and is pretty great, with very little of said insanity - and then the series finale itself ("Dreams Come True") goes full bonkers again, with a time-jump to the future and President Jeb Bush plus Vice President Sue Sylvester. (If only, eh? :brickwall:) Based on your comments, you'd enjoy the former, but not the latter. Also, in the middle of the fifth season, there's a two-episode arc ("100"/"New Directions") that sees the club disbanded, Will leave the school, and the last of the original kids (Artie and Tina) graduate. Both eps are legitimately pretty great, and they would have made an excellent finale had the series stopped there. ("New Directions" also features the Kristin Chenoweth and Gwyneth Paltrow characters, adding to the series-finale vibe.) So, if you ever want a finale fix... go with those three, IMO.

To answer your question why they changed the 6th season.

It was picked up for 5th and a 6th season. When Finn died the show's plans went down the drain. No one liked the new characters and just wish they changed the show instead of the cast. So they ditched them.

Fox should have just broke the contract or make a 2 episode season 6 because the show was dead before then and everyone was jumping ship.

I do miss Glee. I still pull up some of the numbers on Youtube. Lots of talent in that show and not just in the singing and dancing.

I miss the early years of Glee. The show really lost its way when the kids graduated.
I agree those were the best years but I felt like the latter seasons were still decent, entertainment and I kind of liked seeing some of them trying and make a career out of their talents and the new bunch of kinds were okay and I liked how we got to see some of the background characters have more to do like Artie,Tina etc. The music also was always good no matter what season the show was in.

The first season was phenomenal. Amazing television. My biggest problem with the show wasn't the influx of new characters/departure of old favorites but the character development resets that constantly happened (a problem that plagues Ryan Murphy shows in general). Sue would learn and grow in one episode and then be right back to where she started the next, as though the previous episode had never even happened--only to learn (and forget) the same lesson all over again. Inconsistencies in character like that drive me crazy.

That being said, I watched the whole run of the show, and I enjoyed the hell out of the music and the energy of the show. I'd totally re-watch that first season.

First two seasons were amazing but the quality started to slip in season 3 and i don't think i even started to watch season 4.. i still like to hear and see some music bits from time to time.

Yes, I miss the first 3-4 seasons of Glee. Those seasons were unlike any show I'd ever seen on TV. There are still some songs covered on Glee that I very much like better than the originals. Such a conglomeration of talented singers, although I still think the guys on the show were hired more for their looks than singing ability wihth exception of Matthew Morrison.

The show had a real reverence for the songs which showed in the songs chosen and the way those songs were used. I would love to see another Glee-like show but without Ryan Murphy's masterful management of the music, I'd be skeptical of it's success.

I occasionally put on Artie's Safety Dance or Schu's Piano Man, or the Dream On duet. So yeah, I occasionally put on the Joss Whedon episode of Glee to give me the smiles.

The rest, I can live without

Hugo - we can dance if we wanna

My daughter is watching it as we speak. She's in the middle of season 2 and I remember how much there was to enjoy about the show.
