Does anyone here have the novel yet?

I just got it last night (rotten Barnes and Noble...didn't have the soundtrack...so I got the book).

Turned immediately to the end.

Those of you who also have it may know what I read, but some may also be ahead of me.

Using the spoiler thingie, tell me...

Why the mention of 'the odd ears'?

Got it last night, haven't started reading it. I'm getting over foot surgery so I'm reading a lot these days. I'm halfway into one book now and will read Trek once I'm done.

I had our B&N put the paperback and the audio CD on hold last week, and I picked it up yesterday.

Zach Quinto reads the audiobook, and his voice is like warm, dark chocolate.

I'm sorry but what's this book called again?

I picked up Willy's book "star fleet academy" yesterday.....for free....!
His publisher is two floors down from me...so that worked out nicely...if anyone needs a copy of "up till now"...lord knows I got em.

no, I'll check it out soon though. I've also heard that Quinto did a phenomenal job with the audio book. might have to check that one out as well.

Got the novel (and CD) last night and have read the first two chapters, which ends with the Kelvin smashing into the Narada. I must say there are a lot of inconsistencies between the novel and the movie. I think the author (Alan Dean Foster) may have worked with an earlier version of the script. Some details were different than what appeared onscreen (Captain Robau's first name for example), certain lines spoken by the characters in the novel were different than they spoke onscreen, even some of the action scenes appeared different between the two.

my only problem is that I have never really liked Alan Dean Foster's Trek writing. I know the motivation behind the choice, but I wish they'd given this to someone like Diane Carey.

oh well.

Thank you..I recognize that guys name...I think he's been around...I've never been big into Trek books though...
So there's a lot of differences huh? Maybe that'll make for even a more interesting read trying to spot them....???

I'm checking my local library...I'm not buying any books until they're worthy of my money...case in point that star trek nitpickers guide.....glad I rented that one! !

Alan Dean Foster was the very first Trek novel writer. waaaay back in the 60s. more TOS fans should know about him than do.

I definitely recognize his name and he has been very busy I see...just a ton of material!

I read a few of Blish's books when I was in like 7th grade -- that's as far as it went....

This Star Trek book is at Amazon for $10.20, free shipping if you order over 25 bucks of stuff and at deepdiscountdvd.com for 12 bucks...free shipping -- so I think I'll just buy it, only 2 reviews on Amazon but they were positive! Amazon review also mentioned how great Quinto is at reading the novel.

I think you may be confusing him with James Blish who did the novelizations of the TV episodes. Foster did the novelizations of the TAS.
