Doctor Who: The Figure Thread

Tardis, Doctor and Amy Kiss-o-Gram has been announced.

Unfortunately the TARDIS does not come with lights or sounds.

I would have bought this set if it did now it will be a pass for me (which is rare) - Unless I get sucked in at some point which is very likely. Damn you. Damn you all to hell!

Thought i'd put this here now

My Sonic Screwdriver Screwdriver arrived last week

I read a short review that it's not that impressive. I've opened it and notice the sound isn't quite as loud.

My WOW sonic screwdriver arrived today. (I will try to put a pic up later)

Looks good in the box, but its pretty much all downhill once you get it out.
Only the bottom half is metal, the top half is plastic, similar in thickness to the CO version.
I'd known for sometime that the "claw" didn't extend, but given it's plastic rather than metal it should have been possible to acheive something a bit better than this moulded top.

The screwdriver opens at the midpoint to reveal a rod with the bulb at the top end and the screwdriver heads attached magnetically around it. I think this piece looks rather flimsy, and it certainly took quite a few attempts to get the whole thing put back together. I also think you could very easily rip off the bulb if you are not extremely careful. As to its usefulness as an actual screwdriver i'm pretty sure certain parts of it would break long before you were able to shift a moderately stubborn screw.

The FX are triggered by a small button on the shaft. They sound fairly weedy.

So initial thoughts are that this is a pretty poor attempt that fails to be an accurate replica or a functional screwdriver, its just a very overpriced novelty.

With that said i'm thinking about selling it for 20 dollars plus shipping. Paypal preferred.

Also announced is a single carded McCoy which I can confirm I will be passing on:

Sweet!
:techman:

The only McCoy figure I have is the brown-coated one minus the hat that came with the eleven Doctors set (I skipped the earlier 2-pack releases--don't ask me why).

Good things do come to those who wait sometimes...

I have the Dapol figure like that. I'd be tempted to get that one for old time's sake!

The only figure I'm looking for right now is a Revenge of the Cybermen-era Cyberman figure. Those things are RARE! If anyone wants to get rid of one, let me know! :techman:

I don't think they're rare so much as the Revenge Cybs and Remembrance Daleks haven't been made available in NA yet (unless you want to get a mate to ship them from the UK). Word is they are coming to NA, just not until sometime in 2011.

OH!! I didn't realize they weren't out here yet! Good call, Josan! I'll hit up my boy in London and see if he can grab one for me. Thanks man! :techman:

Cool. Hopefully this means they'll be releasing a single of McGann pretty soon too.

I'm sure they realize there's still a ton of holdouts like me who want one but weren't going to go for the expensive set.

^ Like me! :D

And I already have that Seven figure from the "Remembrance of the Daleks" 2-pack.

And that sucks about the new version of 11's TARDIS (which still don't look right, IMO). What did they change other than the windows? And wouldn't it have made more sense for the raggedy Doctor figure to go with that set, since that's what he wore for most of "The Eleventh Hour" (like Amy's police outfit).
