doctor who and the horror of party beach

Doctorwhovian

Fleet Captain
Was watching this old mystery science theater 3000 riff on a bad 50s monster movie when I noticed some familiar music from the black and white episodes of DW such as the moonbase. I think it might be due to the fact that apart from the main title theme early Doctor Who often used a stock soundtrack.Anybody else notice this?

If I recall the music was stock music to be used by the BBC, and probably made in the 1950s. And yes I noticed, though I'd seem that film long before seeing the DW episode.

Horror of Party Beach was made in 1964, before the Doctor ever encountered any Cybermen.

Yes, I noticed it in the first episode of The Space Museum, as they approach the transparent TARDIS. "Boom...WAAP! Boom...WAAP! Boom...WAAP!" And so on.

Interesting that the theme identified a great deal with the Cybermen in Moonbase and Tomb is also stock music (Also used a bit in Space Museum).

Especially with some of the other Troughton stuff recently recovered (Such as Web of Fear), it now seems more sort of like a generic theme for monsters.
