Well, that sort of explains things then, doesn't it. The Tenth Doctor regenerates into the Eleventh Doctor. The Tenth Doctor's hand regenerates into the Tenth Doctor. Since "Hand of The Doctor" is tied into the Tardis every bit as much as the Doctor himself, the Doctor that grows from the loosed hand remembers everything that's happened over the past three seasons. And, indeed, the Doctor's entire life. Even though technically he's just a hand. Both face off against Davros. OMGWTFBBQ?! ensues.

Iirc, there was some kind of telepathic memory sharing thing the Doctor did with past incarnations of himself sometimes when he met. I think it was called "Contact" - they can easily use this to explain a second Doctor having his recent memories.

That and the crowded opening credits. I had myself a fan-boy-gasim. :p

I remember back when the first rumors came out that there'd be eleventy-billion companions in the finale that, since they started adding "guest companions" into the opening credits with Utopia, they'd be shooting at us like machine gun bullets when we got here.

I giggled a little when I saw I wasn't mistaken.

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW

I was STUNNED.

Did NOT see that ending coming!

What happens NEXT?

Don't tell me - I'll wait. Very very impatiently.

I'm gonna try and avoid hearing about things for next week. It's beyond fantastic ... more like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

What an ending. I'll watch it again later today.

Sure you don't mean supercalafreakingawesome? Mmmm, I feel like a pizza now.

I meant to add.

This season is EPIC.

Makes Star Wars look like an intergenerational family squabble with some sock puppets and a few flashbangs.

So there!

Me too. Right now. :D

ETA: but don't get me started about that pizza ad! It sucks!

Hi, did anyone notice references to the crucibile? which i believe the master mentioned in as being present in the sound of drums when the dalek emperor took control of?

Question. If Davros was bought back from the Time War by Dalek Caan shifting away in Dalek's of Manhatten, how could the planets be dissappearing in the alternate timeline (last episode) where the Doctor died before going back to Manhatten and stopping the Daleks there?
um, I might have this wrong, but I think the two are unconnected, stars are suns not planets, moving planets wouldnt make stars go out, besides I dont get why they are calling it an alt reality, when it seems more like an alt time line.

An alternate reality is the same thing as an alternate time line. Reality is determined by the time line.

I'm in awe. This is the episode made for fandom, without a doubt. Think the BBC lied to us, and Tennant is out of here? Probably not.

Meanwhile, when the Doctor referenced someone trying to move Earth "a long time ago", was he referencing Trial of a Time Lord?

Also, one of the missing planets was "Callufrax Minor" (sp?). Wasn't the name of the "moving planet" in Tom Baker's Key to Time episode The Pirate Planet also named Callufrax? Nice homage to the concept, if true.

Overall, this was a fanboy episode and I loved every second of the epic feel. The effects were pretty damn awesome, as well.

Can't WAIT for next week! :techman:

So how do some people feel about the rumors that

That there will be two doctors

One will be Tennant and one will be Morrissey?
It's looking pretty likely. It would certainly explain how they're going to pull one out of their ass and still have Tennant as the Doctor for "Journey's End" or "War on Skaro," or whatever to hell they're calling it these days. It explains why the Hand has been getting so much attention lately. It explains why there's a photo floating around of two Doctors standing on "Bad Wolf Beach" at the end of the next episode. But most of all...

It provides us with an explanation that is not totally ass as to how the Doctor's regeneration will wind up. I hate this idea that him being near the "Almighty Hand" will somehow turn him into the Eleventh Doctor, but yet allow him to keep all of the Tenth Doctor's physical attributes. It's JUST a hand... That may or may not break out of its glass and grow into David Tennant. But, if you're going to give me a crazy regeneration, make it a spectacle.

My one word summary: Wow!

My only gripe was that there was no kitchen sink included :(

Well not much point in making a Doctor Who movie now is there? It'd be hard to beat this for sheer epic-ness. :) My second 'Fantastic!' of the season.

* A moment of silence please for the greatest cliffhanger ever!

* God bless RTD for restoring the Daleks to the galactic terrors they were meant to be. Hard to believe we used to laugh at them back in the day.

* Someone earlier mentioned the Doctors reference to 'moving Earth' in the past. He was probably thinking of 'Dalek Invasion of Earth'. Where they planned to hollow out the planet, fit it with an engine and use it as a whopping huge spaceship.

* The drumbeat over Harietts phone threw me for a sec, until I remembered that while the Master might be gone, the cel phone network he set up to mess with peoples heads is still going strong.

* Don't think the dissapearing stars is related to any of this as are only 27 planets in the Daleks cluster. If anything it reminded me of the CVE (another gateway between universes) in Logopolis breaking down and erasing a chunk of the universe. I have a feeling theres something bigger going on here.

* As for the ending, I suspect he's either going to will himself to stop, Donna gets too close and disrupts it or something. If not and this is a regeneration, its the biggest coverup ever! (even going so far as to fake outdoor filming for the Christmas special)

Good God its gonna be a long week!

I liked it--although it's all set-up, so I'll have to reserve complete judgment until I see the second half. I liked all the companions having a video conference and the way that Harriet Jones went out fighting! Very good stuff. I really liked Sarah Jane's reaction; it was the right mix of terror and confusion.

The kept showing the hand, so clearly that will have something to do with his regeneration. I'm curious to see how they work that.

Check out the Dalek Invasion of Earth Thread. The Daleks tunneled to the core of the planet, they claimed to be turning the earth into a battle world or some rot. It was only yesterday without thinking of the here and now that I asked if the Daleks have built a fleet of mobile battle planets.

Then again I also claimed that all Dalek's were female. See how magnificently that comment was in error.

That was beyond Awesome. Screw Indigo, I want me some K9.

Personally I don't know where the whole regeneration thing is going to lead up to, but if I had to take a guess I'm pretty sure the doctor will manage to keep his form and it'll probably have something to do with his jarred severed hand. There have been a few episodes this season where the camera had focused on the hand if not for only a second, they even did it in the beginning of this episode...that hand might be the key to keeping his form because even if he regenerates that hand belongs to the 10th and will always have the genetic make up of the 10th doctor....
I don't know that just my theory, most likely I'm wrong...

Damn it, these guys sure know how to cliff hang.

Holy mother of god. I think Doctor Who just jumped up to the number one greatest television series I've ever seen. It's not much to get me convinced of what is number 1 on my list, but I think Farscape is going to number 2 now after this episode. I think I will be in shock all week long. What a cliffhanger.:eek::eek::eek:

I really don't know what else to say. Just some quick things

-They really did a great job with the crossover this week. That was absolutely well done.

-I'm not sure who Devros is, but damn I like him already. Can't wait to see how that ends up next week

-It would be wrong of me to spoil that cliffhanger so I will just say wow. Is it Saturday the 5th yet. That was worth waiting a whole day for.

-It's really hard to talk about this episode with out expressing face to face emotion. That episode just blew me away.

he's the Dalek founder, showed up in a lot of 4th Doctor/Tom Baker episodes... not sure how often he's showed up since then, or if he has at all.
