What Tony Stark scene?

Overall, it was a pretty solid film. The visuals were fantastic, but the narrative was your typical by-the-numbers comic book hero origin tale, but with a weak villain and leading lady.

If there was one actor who was truly wasted in this movie, it was Michael Stuhlbarg.

I enjoyed the film. Gave it a B+. Very different from the usual Marvel films and enjoyed the third act as it was a bit different to usual Marvel third acts.

I also liked the bit where Strange showed anger at having killed someone. Nice to see that in a superhero movie.

I too thought of Rhodey in that car scene. It is being suggested the 22 year old girl struck by lightning may have been a Captain Marvel easter egg:

Planning to see tomorrow. It occurs to me that it might actually be worth seeing in 3D. Would any of you recommend it or is the 2D version better?

The 3D usage was best I've ever seen. The visuals were a roller-coaster ride, I literally felt dizzy or had vertigo at some scenes. Down-side was, my eyes became very stressed out at all the visual gymnastics they were being forced to perform. By the films end they were streaming tears of exhaustion. Worth it though.

The film itself wasn't the epic, mind blowing experience I was expecting but it was okay. The characters origins are now out of the way leaving the playbook for future installments wide open.

A+
They (IMO) really did a good job of modernizing 'Dr, Strange' and still paying some homage to Steve Ditko and Co. I also love the way they showed Baron Mordo - and his 'turn' at the end was great to see and made sense for the character as presented.

I also loved that they kept the aspect of Strange as a reluctant hero as he learned just what becoming a Socerer in league with the Ancient One entailed - (IE I loved the whole "I'm out!" sequence; as well as him having issues with the fact that he killed someone, etc.

Also, for me, the first post ending 'tag' scene was perfect/hilarious.

Not the most thrilling or original superhero movie, but the visuals were pretty good and the action was a lot more clever than anything we've seen in a while. Although I was surprised by how strangely subdued the whole thing felt, given that we're talking about magic and the multiverse. I'm not too familiar with the character, but I still would have expected the movie to be a whole lot more crazy and out there than it was.

Oh, and I continue to find Cumberbatch's "American accent" to be just as weird and distracting as ever. I really wish they would stop making him use it in movies, because it just does not work. Lol

Haven't seen the movie yet but it is kind of funny about the accent given the liberties they take in casting that they're worried about making Strange American. I don't know the character well but I don't that's a big aspect.

I was reading this article based on an interview with Scott Derickson in EW and they seem to suggest the soldier could not be Rhodes as that section takes place a few years in the past and the film ends in the current MCU timeframe:

One clue he did offer – the chronology doesn’t add up. If this movie ends at roughly the present day in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after the events of Civil War, when Rhodes was wounded, the early parts of the movie have to take place a long time in the past. Since this is the call Strange gets right before his accident, it makes sense that his recovery, subsequent surgeries on his hands, and spiral into hopelessness takes some time – a few years? Then he has to discover the Ancient One and spend years of study under her to develope his mystical powers. So…

Yeah maybe some diehard fans might throw a fit, but from what I can see the character would have worked just as well if he was British. And it would have allowed Cumberbatch to seem a whole lot more natural and believable in the role.

Apparently some awards on his wall at the beginning of the movie were dated 2016, which very well could mean the colonel with the broken back could be Rhodes despite the director saying he isn't.
Otherwise that means the rest of the movie happens in an incredibly short amount of time with Strange's entire reconvalescence and training happening within 6-9 months or so.

Despite what's being said, I think the simplest explanation is that the injured Colonel mentioned is the pilot of Hammer's failed prototype. It stands to reason that his injuries would take a long time to recover from, so it's hardly inconceivable that he's still seeking surgical consultations even years later.

Isn't Professor X American in the comics too? I think Cumberbatch making Strange English would've been accepted just as smoothly as was Patrick Stewart's English Xavier.

Enjoyed seeing it in 3D. I liked how they tied in the Time Gem with the story. It seemed like the Marvel version of House.
