Doc Brown/Marty have to murder the liberians in "Back to the Future"?

Re: Doc Brown/Marty have to murder the liberians in "Back to the Futur

I thought this was gonna be about when Doc Brown and Marty break into the Library late at night (in BttF3) and find the old photo of Brown beside the clock from 1885.

Well you never know...

Yeah he went and smacked his head "I almost forgot, I need to carry the extra plutonium or I wont' be able to get back!" Or something to that effect. They finished putting more into the back of the car, but then the Libyans came and sort of scared them, which lead to him going into his fan and getting his pop gun.

The real question is why Doc was even contemplating letting Clara stay in the 19th century, as she could have married someone who was supposed to have married someone else, thus somehow preventing Marty, Doc or Jennifer from even being born, thus causing a chain reaction that'd wipe out the universe.

... Or maybe he was just past caring about those kind of paradoxes at that point. :p

Removing Clara from the 19th Century would have been the smartest move. As a schoolteacher with a love of science ficiton, I think she would have been able to bring herself up to speed with 1985 fairly quickly.

Given eveything that's been going on they probably didn't mind another tweak in the timeline.

I'm surprised Doc let the shoot out happen, as even if something like 1885 Griff had been killed, then Biff wouldn't have been born (unless he had been born already) and everything in 1955 and 1985 would be up the spout.

If you look at the chain of events, Clara would have either left town on the train or died when the locomotive went over the ravine... thus remaining as Clayten ravine anyways...

No, the Libyans showed up *before* they could stock the car with more plutonium. Doc said "One pellet, one trip...I must be out of my mind." Then he heard Einstein barking, said "What is it, Einie?" and the Libyan truck arrived. Doc never actually put more plutonium in the car. (If he had, then Marty wouldn't have needed to use the lightning strike in 1955...)

In the novel Doc was friends with the gaurd who let Doc and Marty in.

As for the case of plutonium: I imagine Doc used a vial of it to get to the future, got the DeLorean changed-over to fusion, traveled back to the night of the Libyan attack and planted the plutonium on them for authorites to find.

As for Clara, I agree -and don't see why Doc didn't see this- that taking her back to 1985 with them was the best thing to do. If Clara wasn't supposed to be around past September 1885 then leaving her there would be danagerous to the future. (Of course it could just turn out she was signifcant enough to change anything.)

One DOES wonder, however, at what point Buford Tannen settled down, got married, and had kids.

Rape and abused into submission is more his style.

Then again, for several generations...

Well, the "evil" gene in Buford got diluted over the generations as every subsequent Tannen was less evil. Biff was a bully and attempted rapist, and Griff was just an overmuscled idiot.

Yeah, but to have kids -who would've had his last name to carry on the family line- requires something a bit more. I think it's more likely he had a "softer side" and a family -possibly after he settled down gave up crime after his jail sentence. Sort of similar to Jessie James.

It is also interesting that the McFlys, the Stricklands (discipline enforcement) the Tannens, the Satlers (buckboard rentals in 1880s, Studebaker in the 50s, Toyota in the 80s and Pontiac in 2015), the Joneses (manure handling) all stayed in Hill Valley and in their respective fields for so long. And when the Vanbrons/Browns came to Hill Valley in 1908 they also stuck around until the 1980s.
