I agree, RDA started phoning his performances in (and not very well either) from season 7 onwards, that's when the show started to get rubbish for me.

Mitchell is useless, in 2 seasons and two movies all we know about his character is that he was shot down, and we learned that in one of the first episodes he was in.

Vala was at least fun, and had a storyline. it wad have been awesome if Mitchell got the team back together and then died in some fight. Then have Sam be the leader of the team.

Yeah, Mitchell was a wasted opportunity. For the new lead of a show, they really didn't focus much on him at all.
