Do you think we might get a Jon Favreau/Dave Filoni Avengers style movie?

With the way the last couple of Bubba Fett episodes have gone it made me wonder. I feel like they are creating tons of various Characters set in this same timeline and it made me wonder. At some point doesn't seem possible we might see a movie that includes all these characters, and new ones not introduced yet into some Avengers style movie were they all come together for some plot reason. Maybe even on the big screen. I mean they seem to have so much of a hard time getting someone to make a movie but Favreau is a successful movie director so why not him?

I definitely think we will see a big crossover on TV and I believe they alluded to that when they started introducing spin offs from the Mandalorian. I'm not sure if they'd move it to the big screen because the way they are telling stories on the small screen is working very well for them. The weekly installments and hype surrounding them might be worth more than the 2 - 3 year wait for a single movie.

I was thinking they could maybe do it like the first X-Files movie when they had a movie when the tv show was still on the air. Only easier I would imagine because I figure you got more leeway in terms of schedule since you wouldn't have all the actors filming the movie while also having to film their tv show at the same time.

Movies are different animals to shows. They're shorter and thus have to be punchier, typically more action centric and with a smaller tapestry. Honestly, compared to the kind of storytelling we got in Clone Wars & Rebels, and now Mandalorian & Bad Batch, a movie seems more like a step down than a logical next step for this subject matter.

One good advantage in this situation though is because of the tv shows lots of the heavy work of character development will have already been done. We would already knows these characters. Granted you still got to do a movie in away that someone will watch it as if they never seen the shows before but usually that can be done with a few lines here and their. Like the scene in the X-Files movie were Mulder complains about his situation at the bar to the bartender.

Some things work better on television. They tried a TV tie-in cinematic Star Wars movie before with "The Clone Wars" (though released ahead of the series). It wasn't exactly a major hit. If a big crossover story was to happen at some point with the Mandoverse, then I think it would be a TV event more like the Arrowverse "Crisis" stuff.

I could see that as well. a 5 day event that starts on a Monday and ends maybe on a 2 hour final on Friday would be awesome.

I believe they released the Clone Wars "film" to theatres first; and then presented it as the first three or so episodes of the series on TV (IE - It was made for TV, but they figured they could make a buck/generate hype by releasing the opening story as a 'feature film' in theatres.) As I recall I think in made them 15 million in receipts. <---- Not bad for something made for TV to begin with anyway.

Sounds like you're living in the past and don't understand how streaming services work.

And the answer to the thread- No

Right now they release one episode a week, just like old tv. If they wanted to do a weekly mini-series were a new episode dropped 5 days in a role they could do it. It's not like they have to worry about time slots or anything.

That pretty much sums it up perfectly.
Allows for more story/character canvas in TV (mini)series and crossover events than a movie.
Also more lucrative and long lasting.

It's impossible to say one way or the other. What I can almost guarantee, however, is that Disney has already done the (cost to profit) analytics on it. Given that, I think it's pretty safe to assume that a would-be Mandoverse film is currently the de facto fallback in case any more of the current projects fall through.
